last good morning vietnam!

last on the list before i head home is ho chi minh city or also known as saigon during the french occupation. and it‘s like i encounter a city with two faces, represented by these two names. there are skyscrapers, huge modern malls and very touristy areas and at the same time lovely historic buildings, temples and more authentic vietnamese street(food) life if you go beyond the tourist district... the city of the scooters! my first mani/pedicure ever, cafe apartment hopping was fun and self guided streetfood tour the best way to say goodbye vietnam!

now it’s time to return back to germany. i am thankful for the diverse, vibrant and colourful experiences i shared with many different people in various places along the way. excited about what there is to come back home, new job, new home, new life! but i will be back travelling for sure (:

beautiful markets in the mekong delta

i spent two days in can tho, the capital of the mekong delta, which is also known as the amazon of asia. can tho is the fourth largest city in vietnam. here farmers sell their products off their boats on the river. i visited cai rang and phong dien floating market. you can tell by the displayed goods on hooks what the individual boats sell. i was much more hooked on the terrestrial equivalents of these markets though - as you can tell by the vast number of photos... all this fresh herbs and veggies, it is way too pretty! also had delicious ‘pho bo koh’ for breakfast which is a spicy beef noodle stew and later on ‘banh bot loc’ clear vietnamese rice dumplings filled with shrimp that look like ravioli for dinner. food is just too good over here! every dish is so perfectly seasoned, none of the ingredients is predominant and you have multiple layers of taste with every bite. no doubt that this is one of the best cuisines in the world!

lets get some rest

just arrived in dalat and i feel like having a weekend right now, dont even know what day it is and travelling can be exhausting haha. i have been strolling around the town, exploring the markets. the city is known for its fresh veggies, good coffe, beautiful flowers and lots of expats! there is a french colonial vibe around the town, first impression - very modern and affluent. i indulged myself with some good food and coffe - ‚ca phe sua nong’ vietnamese drip coffe and ‚mam tom‘ fermented shrimp paste or ‚kem bo thanh thao‘ avocado icecream and strong ‚ruou de’ rice wine!

time for treats!

in this beautiful ancient town of hoi an i really treated myself. wellness, shopping and as this is the best place to get yourself some clothes tailored i chose to get three dresses done. there are two weddings coming up this year so i’ll be prepared! thanks to my trusted tailor lady anna who really did a good job. loved her good spirits. it was so exciting and wearing them feels absolutely amazing, like a second skin! other than that there was more delicious food like ‚cha phe dua‘ coconut coffe or ‚cao lau‘ rice noodle soup with pork and rice crackers or ‚banh trang nuong‘ vietnamese ricepaper pizza or ‚nuoc thao moc sa chanh‘ vietnamese herbal tea with ginger, lotus, lemongras or ‚banh bao banh vac‘ white rose dumpling or ‚hoanh thanh chien’ fried wonton dumpling - yuuuum. beach day at hidden beach was very windy! really enjoyed my stay in this pleasant historic town! the nightbus to dalat is waiting - 14 hours to go down south!
