“Recently, a friend of mine told me that she felt guilty that she hadn’t accomplished more during the last year of the pandemic. Now, I’ve heard that a few times. And I have a feeling we’re gonna be hearing that more and more.”

How to do a disservice to your main female character and bait an audience for a whole series: a Line of Duty rant
So it seems we all have a lot to say about the Line of Duty series 6 finale, and I have been tossing it over and over in my mind since last night and I am finally ready to put down some of my thoughts. Buckle up (pun intended) because this is going to be long.

the inherent homoeroticism of making sure ur girlfriend’s gun has ur fingerprints all over it so u can take the fall for shooting someone so she doesn’t have to……. i love romance :-)
controversial take maybe but it really rubs me the wrong way that people keep throwing around the “queerbaiting” word in relation to kate & jo because, in my opinion, by definition that’s not what it is. i think i’m of the opinion in general that just because the characters you want to kiss don’t kiss doesn’t mean a show is queerbaiting you especially when one of those characters is canonically a lesbian and is almost explicitly stated to be in love with the other said character? maybe i’m giving too much credit where it isn’t due, but i’m not saying it’s perfect by any means (i wish it was more clearly stated and god of course i want them to kiss) but after experiencing the actual mess of queerbaiting ships like rizzoli & isles this just IS NOT the same! and i have seen this happening even with shows like killing eve. and also dead to me, which importantly to point out, is literally created by a lesbian. it seems that whenever we are dissatisfied with the way a show handles a f/f ship we jump to accusing them of queerbaiting and the word has lost all meaning at this point
