I could have sworn I read something somewhere about Brian mentioning he lost his virginity to a Hollies album. But Google brought up nothing. Weird ask, I know, but you’re the only person I could think of to ask.

Sorry, anon, I haven’t read this anywhere. Finding sources for information about the band is extremely difficult and I don’t think this will be easy to dig up if it exists out there. But, in case any of my followers know about it, feel free to add to this post.

How do you know the story about Brian with Peaches, the girl he met on the first US tour? (Also the girl is mentioned in the song Now I’m Here).

Do you think she went serious with Brian?

From what I recall of the story, Brian had quite a crush on Peaches, but she didn’t return his feelings. Also, if I remember correctly (not always guaranteed), she had a boyfriend or husband – not that it means anything in a lot of stories like this. ;- )

Any Brian/Peaches experts out there want to weigh in on this?

Not an expert at all lol but they met in New Orleans during Queen’s US tour in 1974, late April. The Dungeon is an actual rock ‘n’ roll bar in New Orleans, so that lyric in Now I’m Here is a direct reference to that. AFAIK it was only a short-lived love affair since Brian’s health condition cut their US tour short. Apparently on 31th October 1978, in Queen’s album launch party for Jazz in Fairmont Hotel, New Orleans, Brian left the party in the middle of the night to try and find her but to no avail. She apparently found him later at some point, but got married in 1980. My guess is they reconnected in 1981, since Queen returned to New Orleans and took those photos in the corner of Royal and Toulouse in front of Elliott Art Gallery in the New Orleans French Quarter. The Dungeon is literally just a few blocks over. Seems like Brian still seemed pretty wistful about Peaches by 2008. That is if the information and quotes provided in Is This The Real Life hold out to be true, I remain quite dubious about the book.

We have a direct quote from Brian’s soapbox in 2003:

“And Peaches? I often wonder where she is, and how she is… one day maybe that story could be told, but not right now… it was very magical… Years later the Dungeons was still there… it may still be… and it still worked big magic on me… New Orleans still holds the last piece of my childhood heart. I grew up eventually of course - just a few years ago, when I was fortunate enough to marry the lady I will never be able to live without.”

Why does this picture kind of sum up the issues with Brian and Chrissie’s life so well???   Here she is being a wife and mother and caring for the kids and he is off in his own world tuning his guitar.  I love Brian.  He is my favorite band member; but I have never seen this pic and was struck by how much it says about them.
