We are all artists

I started having this thought when I enrolled in a science high school because I want to become an engineer, even though I originally wanted to go to an art high school. One of my friends asked me, "But didn't you want to become an artist ?" and without really thinking about it, I said, "Do I need the status of an artist to be an artist ?"

And ever since I said that, I’ve been thinking about it deeply. I remembered that my art teacher always included 'to experiment' as a criterion in the grading rubric.

To experiment is to try and test things out. For example: 'I experimented with a new car,' which means I tested a new car.

But experimenting... we have all done it at least once in our lives. Walking, for instance : when we were little and tried to walk for the very first time, that was experimentation. When we ate solid food for the first time, that was experimentation. When we dressed ourselves for the first time, that was experimentation.

What I mean is that, to me, experimentation is a part of art.

2nd part : the perspective

And art depends on the vision of each perspective.

For example, let's take two people looking at a painting: Person X and Person Y. On the canvas, there is only a single red dot in the middle of a white background. Person X is going to be moved by this painting; the red dot will make them think of the sun, and they will say that the sun is so great (the red dot) that even in a vast space (the rest of the canvas), it stands out. Meanwhile, Person Y will find it garbage and won't consider it art at all.

What I'm trying to say is that it is mostly a matter of perspective.

For instance: a person who is unable to walk looks out their window every day at passersby walking. He is fascinated by walking; he learned the anatomy of legs and how a stride works. Every day, he watches fashion shows ; not for the fashion, but to watch the models walk with character. For people who are used to walking, they find it completely mundane, whereas to him, anyone who walks is an artist.

Every single one of our actions and movements can be artistic depending on the perspective. Especially for people who believe in God and therefore see everything as a divine creation crafted with care ; and thus, art.

So, everyone is an artist, thanks to our way of experimenting, our way of thinking, and our way of perceiving the world. You don't need to study art or be a professional artist to be one.
