Review:
It’s alright if you’ve never heard of Youth Novel. Or, rather, it was alright. Prior to the Ann Arbor, MI four-piece’s recently released EP, Turned Around Abruptly Beside A Mirror and Jumped At My Own Reflection, their musical output had been promising yet fitful, having only released two fairly impressive singles and a Third Eye Blind cover in February and May of last year respectively. While the frequency with which they’ve played shows has been comparably more rewarding for fans, it’s the lineups that they’ve played with on many of those shows (most recently Bled Fest) that may indicate the trajectory Youth Novel are on. Past shows have included The Hotelier, Pet Symmetry, and Brave Bird among others. In other words: game recognizes game, and these guys got game.
