It has been.. a day. A day in true Friday the 13th spirit but all ended good in the ends, but geez!
Decided to go early to work today to make sure I get a nice calm start of the day, a coffee and sandwich before starting of the long list of things that was happening today.
6:45 am I walked in to the big cold storage to get prepared vegetables for a catering later in the day and notice the cooler was room temperature. Not good! We had a salmon and prawn sandwich cake in there for 10 am today. It was not fit to be eaten. We do NOT wanna give people food poisoning.
Contacts the bosses in panic and decided pretty quick that we need to re-make it ASAP. My co-worker walks in at 7 am and is notified what is happening and we both start whipping stuff together. We had everything that was needed so that was lucky. It takes a while but with teamwork it is done by 10.15 am and that was alright.
Cooling storage is also fixed. All is good again.
During this we are defrosting bread for 270 piece of bread for an Afternoon Tea catering at 4pm. Two more co-worker has joined as well.
And I am making the food for the evening catering; salmon soup. Easy peasy to make. 12 people are no problems to cook for. Multitasking really hard but manageable.
We have no way of making sure all 270 small sandwiches are delivered in one piece so I make make-shift shelves for delivery boxes for the sandwich cakes, co-workers were impressed. All is good again.
Quick lunch, was very needed somewhere in between there.
Boss gets a fever all of a sudden around 1pm and have to leaves, as one should as we are handling food,
He was gonna have a memorial service for these 12 people with the soup. Not anymore. I volunteered as my co-workers had plans already for the evening.
We also forgot/was not told/information was lost we forgot to bake some bread for the Afternoon Tea when the person came to pick it up.
Panic, we needed to make 90 piece before 5pm.
We are a bit tight on space in the kitchen by now.
My co-worker is also cooking another soup for 100 people. Good thing we have two stoves. We are a bit swamped with things and another boss who is also home with illness calls and asks if two can stay until the memorial service is done.
And to make sure the pick up for the 100 people soup happened as well. So all things promised along with it was taken as well.
We ensure the boss all is good we got this. We call if there are problems.
So off to set the table for 12, not much work but enough to make a disturbance in all other things that needs to be done.
There is a sweet cake made somewhere in between here as well.
Manage to make all preps for the 12 people coming and all is done, they manage themselves in the room designated for them.
SO off to help clearing the kitchen and prepare take-off for the next soup.
Now it starts to feel like we got this under some good control and can start taking it much easier and breath for a bit so my co-worker can leave for her plans in good time. All good.
I stay, by my own choice still, and takes care of the rest in the kitchen which wasn't much but still took some time.
The memorial service ended pretty fast and they were happy with the service and food. Fantastic~ all good.
By now I start to feel the energy level is getting lower, it was after 5pm so, a fast cleaning up is in order while waiting for the 100 people food pick-up.
Left just befor 6 pm... it has been a day..
It may not sound like a lot but prepping time in-between everything and find space takes up a lot of time.
Ended the day with take-out so all is good,
Gonna sleep the whole weekend now.
