One of the earliest poster or "commercial" artists in Europe was a fave of mine: France's Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901). I was thinking of using stencils for my poster art lettering, but I found out that the original poster lettering were hand-painted. These posters were the beginning of social media that can tell us what was happening in the past culturally, politically, intellectually and historically. They are beautiful.

My 8 year old did this in school. There is a great program called "Art in Action" where they take a step-based approach which guarantees each child produces a piece of art they can be proud of. It helps them to discover their inner artist.
Yesterday's (Day 1) output. Background almost complete for Romantika painting 1.
Ok, let's DO this thing! Painting #1 for Romantika show about to begin.
NEXT! Inspired by vintage poster art: Started b&w concept sketches for my next exhibition on May 6, "The Colour of Music" at Gallery 345 which accompanies a very special classical concert "Romantika - 3 Countries, 1 Language" 🎼🎻 featuring the music of three internationally acclaimed artists, Paulina Derbez, Radka Hanáková and Dobrochna Zubek. Their music will pay homage to the music of Romantic Era composers from Mexico, Poland and Ukraine and my art will celebrate the joy of music. Stay tuned for work-in progress deets. Event link in bio.
Boynton Canyon Trail. Impossible to not be inspired by this place. Boynton Canyon is one of four rock formations in artist mecca Sedona believed by New Age adherents to contain a power vortex. I personally didn't feel any different, but the view was spectacular. (at Boynton Canyon)
