it had been about a week. a week of waking up to the soft hum of human conversation, the sound of everyday life. people living. annie wasnāt used to it and she gathered that wouldnāt change anytime soon, it felt like wandering amongst a flock of sheep and not even trying to hide her wolves pelt. shepherded by the military presence. the years of being nomadic had hardly been kind to her, yet the fence around haven felt little more than stifling.Ā
she had arrived too early to the training grounds, restless to get started, to sink her teeth into a task. annie straightened as his measured gait brought him into view and a smile split her mouth, a tiny shred of doubt had had her wondering whether heād actually show. āmorninā, sir.ā

It was hard to find any semblance of peace since the outbreak had began. When she had found out about the clocktower at the end of the community, it was the place that she couldā¦FOCUS and forget about all the wrongs in the world and forget about the outbreak..imaging that as if it never happened. She sat down on the bench by the window, her legs taking up the space that was free, her head turn to the night sky. Without noticing she heard a creek. Her head turned and faced the other human. MOST donāt venture up into the clock tower, she thought she was alone during this time of the day.āUh-Sorry, I didnāt know anyone else was up hereā
there was an almost orbital pull to breathe. get up in the open air, climb until she could see milesĀ of sky. she kicked her boots back against the bricks idly, blue eyes wandering contentedly over the swathes of stars. in the few years since civilisation had collapsed, pollution had already started to gently be undone and there were no lights dimming the velvet black with dull orange, no cars filling the air with fumes. no humans, not compared to what once had been.Ā āsāok angel. no harm done.ā annie flashed her a smile.Ā āplenty of room for the two of us.ā

christopher has a FRESH apple in hand, he tosses it up, bounces it off his inner elbow before catching it and bringing it to his emerald jacket to rub at it. EXPERT hand drags out one his knives, a butterflyā he flips it open, slicing off a piece of the granny smith green apple. he pops it in his mouth & chews. currently the founding scavenger is sitting a top his jeep hood, hacking away another slice of apple.
his legs dangle, feet covered by steel-toed boots. his gaze is down at his knife sliding through the fruit when thereās a shadow cast on him. ā this Ā better Ā be Ā goodā¦Ā ā tone is a little less than exasperated ; ex army commander raises his head to them, Ā ā what?Ā ā
chrisā features were drawn tight, she could tell even from behind, the characteristic furrow of his brow and the wide breadth of his shoulders a familiar sight over the years since annie had arrived atĀ haven. sheād made no effort to soften her footfall or deliberately change her path to ensure that her shadow wouldnāt fallĀ across him, so she wasnāt surprised when he immediately bit out a gruff string of words that could hardly constitute as a greeting. she nipped forward as he looked up, cheekily swiping the sliver of apple heād just cut. her thumb passing over the cool metal of the blade before she popped it into her mouth.
āwell i dunno ābout G O O D, think over the past few years iāve been on the naughty list rather than the nice. havenāt even gotten a lump of coal. though i guess it depends on your definition of good.ā as she started to speak she nimbly hopped up to take a seat beside him.Ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā ā Ā you ever been travelling ? before all THIS, i mean ? Ā Ā ā Ā itās a sad excuse for conversation, he admits. social skills were never his forte ; but it was too quiet for finn, too AWKWARD between him and the other person. he figured they might as well reminisce. besides, a life time ago finn would tour places people could only dream of going ( Ā one of the perks of being a scholarship college kid Ā ), and he was in the mood to brag.Ā
āi roadtripped a little, went to college out of state in virginia.ā she shrugged one shoulder, working on methodically taking apart her pistol and removing the magazine. doing the usual check down the barrel to make sure no rounds remained ready to fire. barrel, slide, guide rod and frame came apart under her long fingers, dousing a cotton wad in solventĀ she cleaned the barrel. balancing it all carefully on her knees. āwe didnāt vacation too much, my ma never even left georgia. you?ā
hello everyone, iām m, iām 21 & stuck in gmt timezoneā¦ya its 3:30am and im about to pass out on my keyboard but anyway hereās wonderwall annie !
She learned how to smile with blood in her mouth. She was brave, she was beautiful but it was ugly.
