BUTTERFLY LIFE CYCLE – Convergence and Divergence Unit
A new animatic has been produced
Scene one – Trial – Use of paper cuts are effective
Technical skills need to be worked upon and shown, as discussed
Camera movement – Secure the environment. Perhaps use a shutter cable, as to not have to keep moving the camera.
Larger scale grass, add details – Folds, to create shadows.
Flower (In scene one) needs a green stem.
Option to change frame rate to 15fps, rather than the original 25fps, this will however make the animation run faster and will have to work out timing to slow them down, either by Photoshop and setting the amount of second delay, or using Time Remapping in After Effects allowing me to slow down sections.
Option to re-shoot 15 seconds of footage to show examiners I can create a perfect stop motion, as realistically in the timing I am unable to re-shoot the whole 1 minute.
Research into ways to control movement in the animation,
Perhaps digital fixes, Warp stabilizer on After Effects and Scene blending – (Print screen to show evidence.)
iMovie, experiment with putting scenes together, see if iMovie stabilization is something I could use, perhaps cropping sections of each scene to make it focus on the important bits and cut some of the movement.
Edit images with colour distortion and light flickers, to make them consistent.
Edit the 6 images I identified with flickers of carpet in them, simple – Use clone tool on Photoshop.
Re-shoot the first scene of the animation (The opening scene) 15seconds 15fps
Strap camera to floor, mark with tape in crosses where each leg of the tripod sits.
Tape the background to the floor – so there’s no movement.
Tape camera to the tripod
Make sure composition starts in middle page – so no carpet shows.
Use skateboard to pan, allowing smoother movement.
Use blu-tack to fix cut outs to page, both the grass and flower.
Add bends into the grass to add detail and shadow.
If there’s time re-shoot the second scene too.
Upload files – File management (Sort them into correct scene folders)
Consider font for opening scenes, credits and disclaimer
“Annie Bushnell presents a Stop Motion Production”
After first scene of Butterfly (The intro scene)
“The Life Cycle of a White Morpho Butterfly”
“Production by Annie Bushnell, Voice Over by Stacey Kelly-Maher”
“The Caterpillar used in this animation is not the correct resemblance of the original White Morpho caterpillar and was changed for clarity”
Put all separate scenes together, taking into consideration transitions (Fade) to run more smoothly. Originally were putting each image on a delay of 0.06 this may have to change for the scenes shot in 15fps rather than 25fps.
Put all scenes together in iMovie to stitch them together and stabilization by 50% as to not crop the scenes but add more stabilization.
Export as a MP4 as to later take into After Effects to add voice over and render.
From the script already produced, re-read, add or change anything that may need to be.
Do a test run, make sure all that needs to be said can be within in the seconds, with a good pace.
Test how clear the speech is.
Begin recording the voice over.
Add voice over to the animation, with either iMovie or After Effects – Test Run- Make sure the voice over matches each scene. Test equalization of the sound, not to quiet or to loud.
Render the entire animation (Sound and animation) Via After Effects referring back to requirements Online, making sure it’s the right size (1280x720px) and is the right format. The animation is not allowed to be any bigger than 1MB.
(THIS PROCESS WILL TAKE A WHOLE DAY TO RENDER)
Once rendering is finished, check animation make sure there is no errors and everything works as it’s meant to be, if not – fix issue and re-render straight away!
Post on Youtube (Checking the box of my learning agreement – stating my purpose was to put it on Youtube)
Facebook, try collect data, asking audiences for feedback to see if it follows its purpose and audience – Create a graph to show this depending on the amount of results collected.
Update blog, make sure all development work, illustrations, cut outs, print screens of evidence of using technical skills and reflective entry etc is posted
Put rendered animation on memory stick aswell as all photographs taken on a separate memory stick, label these.
Put animation onto a DVD Rom, as to have back ups.
Sort all work correctly labelled for assessment
Write 150 synopsis of my project (check on blog for instructions on how to do so) email this Wendy
Read through learning agreements and requirements, make sure everything asked has been completed
Make sure everything is ready for hand in
Add anything to my sketch book that needs to be, update sketch book.
Hand in from 9:30 – 12, sign any forms that need to be, put everything into my box, clearly labelled.
Add animation to shared folder – More instructions on the day.
