Ngl it’s really fun to think about the first Shane in the gremlin AU, cause no offence to Eli, but he’s been told most things he needs to know, the first Shane hasn’t, and it’s just fun thinking about how they’d adapt to slugterra.
I like to think that the volume of cultural differences between surfacers and terrans means that the first Shane is functionally still just some wild animal who just understands Terran now. Get into personal space without permission? Warning hiss. Try to touch tail or wings? *Bap bap bap*. Theres food? It’s free game, no one owns it (he will only respect travellers food. He still doesn’t understand why, but he likes him enough to leave it. He has definitely tried slug food lol)
I like to think he’s also given his traveller friend a surface name, one that was easier to remember while he was still learning Terran and its just become travellers nickname
After a while the two become more in-sync. Raiders and bandits see traveller raise their arms and assume they’re surrendering when in reality they’re just giving the first Shane an easy way to grab their hand to flee. Or maybe switching slugs every so often if they’re in a fight and running low

But it also kinda puts into perspective how far the Shane's have come from then the First Shane First showed up, in how they are able to understand and interact with the word of Slugterra.
Both in the au, and out of it when you think about it.
Wtf is that audio im thinking of- its from the Portal Games where its GLaDOS or another AI robot going, "what is that? What is that!" Repeatedly, for the First Shane and mayhaps the next few after, before its just almost business and usual I guess lol.

The fact the First Shane ate Slug Food, something that is known to taste bad to non-slug beings is real funny. And it would just be hilarious if all the Shane's just, eat Slug Food at some point in their lives when in Slugterra for one reason or another, only to wretch like idiots.
The Traveler being given a surface name is sweet is a way- like sure ots only there because the First Shane is still learning Tarran, but it has to just, become a nickname for the Traveler in the end.
Okay- the Traveler raising his hands and the First Shane swooping in to grab him is real badass, and super dramatic. Love that for them.
