It’s been a little while since I’ve had the opportunity to write an update. In the past few months I’ve started a new job, gone on tour and worked things out for the most part with old friends. So here’s the four one one on what’s been going on with AA recently.
As many of you may know, about a year and a half ago Paul, Christian and Anthony parted ways with AA due to personal reasons and I’ve been running things on my own for a while. Writing, recording, mixing, all that good technical jazz in an effort to keep everything running smoothly. With that came our Rotten Milk EP, my first real attempt at doing this whole album thing solo. Well not entirely solo. I did have help from my friend Towndrow with Towndrow Audio. It was a decent attempt I admit. It was more of an experiment and a learning experience than anything.
Anyway it’s been a while since then and I’ve been blessed to have to amazing friends filling in for whatever live shows came our way. I’d still like to personally thank Sean from The Astral Cadence for coming in on lead, my buddy Louie Baerga from pretty much every other band I’ve been in: Behind the Facade and Alienhale for coming in on bass, and my buddy Nick for filling in on drums.
Recently I got back from my first tour with Behind the Facade. A lot seemed to happen over the course of that week but the one event that stood out was a show we did upstate in Coram at a place called The Skyline. There were only three bands playing that night: Behind the facade, our tour buddies So Yesterday, and this band called Innocent Sins. The show ended pretty early and, to my surprise, Griffin from SY eventually asked if there was room for one more band to play. After getting the ok, he asked if I could do an AA set. And so we did.
We weren’t prepared whatsoever, and the only person in AA at the time that was also at the show was Louie. So i grabbed Vincent from SY to play on lead. And then I grabbed Christian, who was also travelling with SY to help drive and support, to do drums once again. At this point it had been over a year since we had spoken. And so we played what we remembered. And it was great.
So pretty much after that night we decided to try and get the original lineup back together. I must admit it was mostly Paul’s idea, but we all agreed we should get it back together. So this update, however lengthy it may be, is to finally announce the return of Paul and Christian. (Cue regal trumpet theme)
We have three shows this August on the 7th, the 15th and the 20th. These next few shows are going to be Sean’s last shows with us as he’s leaving to focus on his bands The Astral Cadence and Akari. With that, Louie is going to be stepping up on lead. So I hope to see your pretty faces this month!
Cheers!
