Went on a sketch walk held by the national library, only managed to make a quick painted sketch of church statues from across the library in less than half an hour. I decided to work on it again when i got home.

A red camellia, referencing an old photo i took earlier this year. Used oil pastel to keep the yellows of the stamen vibrant while the watercolors fill up the rest of the flower. White gouache for the stamen details.

One day, a crow dropped a baby pigeon in front of my mother-in-law and she decided to nurse it. The bird became so attached to her that it didn't want to leave despite attempts to set it free. So officially, there's a new permanent resident in the house.

As i sat down and painted quietly, it seemed to have noticed and stretched up to see what I'm doing. Curious little birdie.

Another practice sketch for today. Plans to go out were foiled by the rainy weather, so stayed home and painted. Trying out watercolors with white gouache mixed in. Took some adapting.
