Bro what are these tags? 🤣🤣🤣, gotta love Stark stans that go off the fucking deep end
Even after everything that happened between them, this is how Steve spoke about Tony:
And this is how Tony spoke about (and to) Steve:
After Ultron, after the Accords, after the fight in Siberia, after years of radio silence, Steve still called Tony earth's best defender. He still respected Tony and tried to do right by him.
And what did Tony do? Got in Steve's face and blamed him for everything. And Steve just stood there and took it.
I will never get over it. Steve deserved so much better.
guys please im desperate does anybody have any good ao3 fic recs that are about captain america civil war and are anti accords? im so tired of skipping every single fic i see bc theyre literally all tagged "anti team cap" or "team cap is full of shit"
Honestly, I can't believe I still see so many Tony supporters who think that Tony was entirely justified in trying to murder Bucky at the end of Civil War. That it was actually Steve's fault that Tony did that, as if Tony isn't a grown man with personal agency (unlike Bucky) who made the conscious choice to act on his anger and straight up attempt murder.
Steve is responsible for his choice to keep the truth from Tony - which he acknowledged was wrong and apologized for because he's a good person - but he is not responsible for Tony's choices. He hurt Tony, yes, but that doesn't absolve Tony of responsibility for the way he acted on that hurt.
If it's "human" and "understandable" that Tony got so angry that he tried to kill Bucky, why isn't it human and understandable that Steve would keep that secret from Tony is a misguided attempt to spare him more pain? Why should only Steve be blamed for what happened?
I'll never understand the point of view that attempted murder is justifiable but secret keeping isn't. Steve and Tony both made mistakes, but Bucky was always innocent.
I'm just gonna say it. I hate Irondad so much. The fact that the mcu erased Peter's true hero and father figure, UNCLE BEN from the movies will always piss me off thr highest levels of pisstivity!!
There's so many people Peter has hero worship for before Tonky Stank. Cap, Daredevil, Johnny Storm, Bruce Banner and Reed Richards!!
Not making Steve or Bruce his father/mentor figure was so dumb. Steve and Peter have similar backstory and the most in common when it comes to being a hero and morals. Especially mcu Peter and Steve
I'm sorry but I'll never love the irondad/ ironboy Jr dynamic and I'm glad Tony is dead and Peter can finally be Peter Parker/Spiderman and not be tied to Tony all the time
Y’know the truth is I don’t think Tony Stark would bother me nearly as much if his fans were just even slightly normal about him. Like antis get this reputation for being crazy obsessive hateful people, but in my experience they’re just frustrated fans that want a place to vent about an otherwise very popular character. It’s the stans who will cross tag and send death threats to blogs that dare disparage their precious baby. It’s the stans that clamor for unfair amounts of screen time and encourage the co-opting of other characters to surround Tony Stark. I don’t see antis writing a thousand 10k fanfics about Team Iron Man getting tortured and groveling to Steve. Idk maybe this is an unfortunately common fandom behavior?? It just seems so unnecessary to me
Irondad baffles me still. I mean Tony *checks notes* blackmailed a high schooler into joining a fire fight between some of the most powerful people on earth without telling him why or what the fight is about, basically abandoned him afterwards, only to show up when he makes a mistake and berate him— as if Peter was supposed to know help was coming when nobody told him so. So WHY did so many stans look at that and think “omg what a wholesome father/son relationship <3”????
Forever bitter that we got cameos of Tony Stark's parents in CACW but nothing from Sarah Rogers.
So much for being a Captain America movie.
You should all check this out !
“Tony Stark is a walking bank bailout. His bad means everyone else pays, and he’s still in charge.”
"if wanda hadn't have put terror in Tony's mind Ultron wouldn't have happened!!"
ah yes, very good point. because i, too, create murder bot weapons of mass destruction meant to force "protection" on a world that doesn't want it when I've had a bad dream.
Saw yet another "Tony is full of hurt and anger about Siberia/Civil War" story. Never guilt. Never awareness that he agreed to strip his teammates of their civil rights to get back with Pepper and be Iron Man. Never realization that Tony would have murdered a man in cold blood if not for Steve's intervention, or that Tony turned himself into a villain when he cut off Bucky's arm and shot him in the back. Can they truly not see Tony as he is? Or do they deliberately not look?
Lmao, I feel like that’s hilarious more than anything really, because-
But well, are they wrong tho? Does he ever acknowledge/feel sorry that he dehumanized Wanda, shot Sam point blank, basically called Natasha an untrustworthy liar, almost killed an innocent man, blackmailed and kidnapped a minor? The only time Civil War is brought up after Civil War is at the beginning of endgame, where he goes on that embarrassing rant about precious freedoms. Didn't seem too regretful to me.
Lol. The narrative indeed backs them up -although, if they stopped to think about it, they would realize T0ny doesn’t come out of this looking too good. Really, it’s more of a self own.
THE PARALLELS SHOWING THAT STEVE AND WALKER ARE ALIKE IN SO MANY WAYS!!
ONLY REASON STEVE DIDNT KILL TONY AND THR SHIELD DIDNT HAVE BLOOD ON IS BECAUSE TONY HAD SUIT ON, IF IT WASNT FOR THAT SUIT TONY WOULD BE AS GONE AS THE MAN WALKER KILLED! STEVE AINT A SAINT AND HES MORE LIKE WALKER THEN YOU THINK! LETS WAKE UP TO MCU STEVE!
Yea no Steve and Tony were in a active battle and he disarmed Tony so they would stop fighting. Walker fought and KILLED an UNARMED man who at that point wasn’t fighting but begging for mercy. Not the same at all nice try tho
@op the only reason Steve was fighting Tony in the first place WAS BECAUSE HE HAD HIS SUIT ON!
Had Tony not had his suit on, Bucky (or Steve himself) would have never been any danger from him. And Steve would have no reason to fight Tony.
Effectively Steve was fighting the suit, and used his shield to disable exactly that. Then, he stopped.
So please don't make false equivalents.
And as for the tweet, don't overstate a situation. Even if Tony had killed Bucky, hypothetically (cause that's is something even MCU won't do), as per your tweet, it would be not good of Steve to take revenge for his extremely traumatized best friend and protector, by killing the person who killed him despite Steve's best efforts in front of his eyes? But, Tony killing Bucky for a crime committed 20+ years ago under extreme torture and brainwashing is just human nature??? Sure Jan.
Nice hypocrisy! Expected, but nice.
Steve has always been pragmatic. He was even ready to fight (and defeat) Bucky till he was a danger to humanity. As I mentioned earlier, don't twist canon to make false equivalents to fit your narrative.
It’s been 5 years and tony stans still believe that it was bucky and Steve who started the fight in civil war. I can’t believe ever being THAT delusional watch the goddam movie.
I made a post, not even an hour ago, about the parallels between John Walker and Steve Rogers, particularly focused around how they used the shield in a similar way but resulting in two entirely different outcomes (John killing the Flag Smasher vs. Steve disabling Tony's suit).
And, as per usual, even though it's been almost five years since Civil War, and two since Tony finally kicked the bucket, I have a Tony stan in my notes talking about how he (Tony) was justified when it came to trying to commit murder by killing Bucky Barnes.
I had honestly thought that we'd put all this bullshit to bed, but here we are, recycling old arguments (Al Gore would be proud).
Bucky Barnes, when activated as the Winter Soldier, had absolutely no control over is actions. To paint this in a similar light that Tony stans can understand, this would be like someone hijacking one of the Iron Man suits while Tony was inside and using it to murder people. Or take Ultron as an example. Tony created Ultron, so are the deaths that Ultron enacted on Tony's hands?
They have absolutely no problem understanding that in those examples, that of course Tony wouldn't be to blame for what others did with his tech. But when it comes to admitting that what Tony did in Civil War (attempting to murder Bucky, shooting Sam, breaking the Accords repeatedly) was wrong, suddenly they will perform any and all kind of mental gymnastics to absolve him of any guilt. Honestly, if defending Tony Stark was an Olympic Sport, Tony stans would bring home gold every time because they just can't seem to grasp that they can like a character and admit that they did something wrong.
steve antis are actually super funny to me because they’ll write pages and pages of really bad meta and complain about how conservative and imperialistic and militarized captain america is and how he’s the blueprint for being a racist, homophobic, misogynistic xenophobe because he’s a horrible white, cis, american man and then a steve stan in the comments is like ‘hey but 85% of all marvel characters are american, cis, straight white males. tony stark is an american, cis, straight white male? and he’s also a war profiteer??” and the antis will go completely apeshit and make up excuses like “well tony is feminine coded, so he’s not a man! and he’s jewish, too! and he’s a poc! and he’s spanish and italian! and he didn’t know that bombs blew things up so he gets a free pass! haha roasted!” like, babe,,, if you hate steve rogers solemnly because he’s american then maybe don’t stan the american billionaire who profited off of war for 20+ years.
