AWWW babies first fic!!

(This is based on the beta squad vid "BETA SQUAD MURDER MYSTERY)(also it's a little inaccurate to the vid bc believe it or not 𝑅𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟 wasn't actually in the vid...)

(also also I lowkey started writing this at 2am and it's now 7am and I just finished so if it starts to make no sense at the end it's bc I'm soooo sleepy )

You, Alfie and Gib were the last to arrive and you couldn't deny your nerves. This was your first ever beta squad shoot and although you had a couple friends from work and sidemen videos under your belt you still couldn't help but worry how the fans would react.You tried to convince yourself you were overthinking it and that you wouldn't have been invited if they didn't think you were a good fit but the thought in the back of your head remained.

Alfie noticed, he always did, and grabbed your hand in the car. You looked up at him, and he gave you a reassuring smile.

"𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟, your gonna do great, just breathe"

He held your hand as you took a few deep breaths. As the car stopped and you got out you felt a little better. It was comforting to know that regardless of how fast they vote you out Alfie would be there with you.

You had to film a short clip of you posing for the camera for the intro. You awkwardly smile and wave to the camera knowing you probably look like that one picture of natalie portman and then stepped aside to let Alfie and Gib get theirs done. Once that was finished you started to walk up to the house and the video began.

"wow, wow, wow"

Gib looks up at the giant house in front of you. "I feel like I'm joining a cult," Alfie says dryly as you walk closer. You look up at the house in awe. "It's so big," to which Alfie smirks. "Tell me about it ,girl," he winks at you.

You finally get inside and you are met with a small table filled with pictures of each contestant. You quickly circle the table looking for your own picture. You find its a picture of you at the beach Alfie had taken and assumed they had gotten it from your Instagram. You smiled to yourself grateful they had chosen a nice picture of you.

You could hear Alfie and Gib joking about eachothers picture and wander over to see what they are talking about.

"How old were you here? 15?" Gib pointed to the picture of Alfie on the table "A year ago" Alfie responded confused "how have you aged so much?" to which you began giggling. Alfie held his hands out in confusion and frustration to your reaction.

"𝑅𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟, tell him I'm leng" he looks to you expecting his girlfriend to back him up. You look up at him and then at Gib and begin to laugh again. Alfie let's out a fake offended sigh and marches into the other room.

When the three of you joined the other group, they were all sitting together at a table, and you immediately noticed one thing .... you were the only girl and not in a Rihanna way . All of the guys dapped each other up and were quick to start playfully bantering and joking with each other. You felt too shy to say anything, so you sat at the end of the table bouncing your leg.Alfie again noticed and put his hand on your knee "your alright ,I'm right here"

After a little while of getting to know each other, you were called to another room to get your roles. You had absolutely no interest in being the murderer and were hoping for innocent. There was some chatting around the table that you didn't bother listening to as you were focused on manifesting yourself as innocent.

You finally check your card... innocent. You silently celebrate and try not to make it too obvious what you got. Immediately, everyone started to react. "Why is everyone nervous?"Jason, you look a bit spooked." You were just grateful eyes weren't on you.

You didn't really do well with attention, despite being an influencer, so this many eyes on you would be overwhelming.

After the roles were given out, you all went back to the other room to try and figure out who the murderers might be. You immediately stuck to Alfies side, and the two of you determined both of you were innocent. You knew he wasn't the murderer as when he told you he was innocent, his eyebrows didn't twitch, which was something you had learned he did when he lied in your months of being together. He knew that you were innocent as he was aware of how much you didn't want to be murderer and he was the look of relief in your face when you saw your card. You could trust each other.

While you and Alfie were talking, you could hear everyone yelling at each other and being dramatic. You gave each other a look and then went to go investigate what all the fuss was about. After a minute, Lacy came into the room you were in, shouting about how Aj told him he was the murderer.

"You got a weird vibe about you bro" Alfie pointed to him infront of everyone. Lacy turned around and dramatically said "ME?"

Which made you giggle to yourself.

you had decided that you need to talk to people to make sure you don't seem suspicious and so you joined Alfie in talking to Jason and Chunkz by the piano. Nothing crazy just some small talk and some joking about. It helped you feel more confident when they laughed at something you said. Alfie smiled to himself watching you come out of your shell.

There was so much chaos going on that you didn't even notice yourself becoming more and more confident, and before you knew it, you were having a conversation with Nikko and Jason all on your own. The two of them were talking about whether or not Jason was a civilian. "It said civilian on my card." You and Nikko look at each other in suspicion. Jason, in an attempt to clear his name, keeps talking "it say's civilian c...

C I V E L I E N" Nikko is quick to respond " you had me and in the first half, the second half you lost me" you are now smiling to yourself looking between them. Jason looks at you, then back to Nikko in confusion. "What do you mean?" "Because that's not how civilian is spelt"

Seconds later, you are told it's "bedtime" and that you all must go upstairs and wait while the murderers choose who to kill. As you make your way up the stairs, Alfie runs up to stand next to you. " I'm so proud of you, girl." he pretends to wipe a tear from his eye dramatically to which you roll your eyes. "Nah seriously though you're doing great" which makes you smile " yeah well I could die right now so it is what it is" you get out before you close the door to your room and wait to be let out.

Eventually, you make your way back down the stairs and see Alfie cheer as he realises you're not "dead." You make your way over, and soon, all the remaining contestants pile in. You all notice that Ronaldo is gone and the dramatics start. Jason starts screaming, and Aj starts running around as if the guy is really dead. You laugh at how ridiculous it is and then begin to talk to another group.

At the round table, Chunkz immediately starts asking people what their roll is. Most ,actually, all except Aj say they are innocent. More accusations come out before you are finally faced with your first. "Hold on hold on... 𝑅𝐸𝐴𝐷𝐸𝑅 is the only girl here ... don't you find that suspicious?" Jason says, and the room erupted. Your face starts to heat up as you scrambled to defend yourself from what is essentially a nothing burger statement.

"WAIT A MINUTE WAIT A MINUTE," Alfie yells, trying to get attention off you. "So you are blaming her because she's a woman... oh, so you hate women wooooooow, " he says dramatically, dragging out the o in wow. Everyone immediately turns on Jason.There are mentions of hating periods and feminism as the guys try to appeal to the female audience. You roll your eyes at them and turn to Alfie silently, miming "thank you," to which he nods.

The first voting begins, and there are votes for Jason all over the table. He makes a long speech about how he trusted everyone and how they betrayed him and a long winded and dramatically side rant about how he's not sexist which you were sure would be sped up in the final video.

Eventually, he finished and announced that he was infact not a murderer to which everyone groans, and some are frustrated on how the vote was "wasted "

After the round table was over and everyone went back to their chaotic questioning you went to go talk to Sharky.

He had be the only person you haven't spoken to and you wanted to see what he thinks of everything. You sat at the couches on your own and the two of you talked. Alfie noticed you having a one on one conversation with Sharky. He didn't want to admit he was jealous nore did he want to leave his conversation with the group however he found himself wandering over and sitting himself between the two of you. "So what are we talking about" he says as he puts his arm around your shoulder. "Oh how Sharky is the murderer and how I want him to kill you next" you tease knowing why he came over. He sits up straight and let's out a fake laugh "no seriously what do we think" he sofens realising he was being silly and Sharky fills him in on what you were discussing.

You, Alfie and Sharky had determined that at least one of the Americans and at least one of the beta squad members are a murderer. As you were talking four more people came over although none of you paid any attention to them initially so they ended up wandering off. They were only there long enough to take note of who was talking to who.

The three of you end up standing around the table eating shades and accusing Aj. You had a feeling it wasn't Aj as he was acting too suspicious to a point where if he was the murderer it would be too obvious.

Alfie wandered off and so did Sharky so you were left playing piano with Aj. You both went back and forth on playing random notes and you couldn't help laughing at how bad he was playing.

You had decided you wouldn't accuse anyone in the first few rounds as that might make the murderer see you as a threat and kill you to keep themselves safe.

You just spent your time talking and laughing with people and hearing their theories. It all helped you put together who you thought it might be.

At this point in the game you were suspicious of Chunkz , Gib, and Lacy.

"Bed time" eventually came and went and when you arrived back down to realise Sharky was dead you found yourself more upset this time. Not in a dramatic crying and throwing up way but in a "oh that was my friend " kinda way. You began talking to people again going in and out of conversation listening to everyones theory's. You eventually found yourself with Alfie and Nikko talking about how it might be Kenny or Chunkz. You were confident it was Chunkz however the others had doubts so you kept relatively quiet and just listened to their conversation. "I think it's more likely to be Chunkz then Kenny " Alfie claims to which you agree and Nikko says "Kenny is just terrible at the game" and you all laugh.

Time went on and eventually at the next round table meeting eyes are on Alfie. Aj claims that Alfie is "fantastic " at this game and that it might be him. The table erupts again with noise and yelling. Gib then brings up how you and Sharky had talks with Alfie. " I can promise you it's not Alfie " you claim and he blows you a kiss. they all sigh with different variations of calling you bias and corny. Nikko chimes in and says that Sharky trusted Alfie and Chunkz added on to that point saying "I talked to Sharky aswell and he said he fancies ab" to which Alfie points at Chunkz and winks at you. You decided to throw yourself out there after gaining some confidence throughout the game " I think it's Chunkz" Apparently he had touched Kennys back and that was enough to make him the murderer so Kenny was on board. Chunkz defended himself by saying Kenny was dramatic however the table seemed unsure. Aj switched up immediately and decides he agrees with you and that it might be Chunkz.

As predicted Chunkz was voted out however Alfie voted Kenny. You give him a jokingly betrayed look as he didn't back you up and he throws his hands up and shakes his head. He looks suspicious now but you know it's not him. Everyone else however... Lacy expectedly points out Alfie being suspicious and claims that the group has "cracked the code" Aj tells everyone that he agreed with you about Chunkz because when you accused him he looked annoyed and then Aj shook your hand like it was some kind of joint effort.

Everyone was talking all at once after the round table and they had something different to say. Some were talking about how smart they are forgetting it was you that was right ,others were accusing Alfie and you were getting overwhelmed so you found yourself wandering off with Aj and Gib. Aj says he's suspicious of Nikko and for the first time in the game you think about it. Gib thinks it's Kenny and so there was a small back and forth until Alfie comes in. He tells them how Nikko had agreed to vote Kenny. The more you thought about it Nikko made sense....

Before "bed time" Alfie pulls you to the side. "What are you thinking" you immediately perk up and smile. It comes to your attention that no one in this entire game has asked you what you think. They have told you what they think or have asked you to clear them or to clear someone else but any time your opinion has been shared it was because you took it upon yourself to share it. " I think it might be Nikko ,Lacy or maybe Gib I'm not sure yet" he nods and you quickly discuss why you think that.

Another "bed time comes and goes" and Gib is dead. That leaves you with two suspects and there are two murderers left.

You Nikko and Alfie head to the other room to talk about how there's suspicion of Alfie. At some point in the conversation Nikko points to you "𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟 are you the murderer " you pause for a second and then a smirk plays on your lips " murderer? I hardly know her" to which both boys burst out laughing.

The group goes back to the round table and Nikko asks Aj what he had talked to you, Alfie and Gib about. "Oh I forgot " you chuckle at how confidently useless he was being and Alfie started explaining "NO NO NO" Nikko stopped him before he could tell the full story. Aj asked Alfie to remind him and Nikko said no loudly again. You started laughing at how invested in this game these grown men were and they all looked at you funny. "Oi, don't look at her like that" Alfie said rather aggressively and Aj groans "that evil little laugh is suspicious no?" Alfie dramatically hits the table saying "No" over and over and you put your head in your hands. "I think it could be 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟" Lacy chimes in. Everyone looks to him to see his explanation "well, think about it, she has been defended AB the entire game... I think it's both of them."

Alfie immediately shakes his head knowing based on what Lacy said if he defends you then both of you look suspicious "I think that bitch killed Ronaldo then she got us to vote out Jason... what If I'm next!!" Everyone starts going crazy at the claim and Alfie silently stands.

Before you can say anything Alfie is standing behind Lacy at the table and drags him up by his collar. They are face now. Everyone else is screaming with excitement at what is going to happen and you are silent. "What did you just call her" Alfie says with one hand gripping Lacys collar and the other held up pretending he was going to punch him. Lacy says nothing "no no say it again... I wanna hear it again" Lacy looks at everyone else like Alfie is crazy but they are all cheering "AB AB AB AB " Lacy looks at Alfie again. "I called her a bitch" he says with confidents as if he wasn't being held like the victim of American movie style bullying. "That's what I thought you said" Alfie jolts his fist forward almost hitting Lacy before suddenly dropping him making it look like he hit him. Lacy begins dramatically gasping and clutching his face as if he had really hit him. "KEEP MY WIFES NAME OUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH" Alfie yells at him from across the table and you shake your head at the absurdity of it all. Alfie turns to you "I got you girl don't even worry ya little rocket " he says it in the road man accent he knows you hate and then laughs at himself.

"Right well moving on" Nikko trying to keep on topic brings up Aj won't answer questions and how he's been suspicious. You had made up your mind that it wasn't Aj but seeing Alfie get accusations because he voted differently then the group meant you would just vote him anyway. Alfie still got 2 votes but Aj went and he was not a murderer. Immediately everyone started yelling at eachother and you just put your knees up to your chest like you're a kid who's parents are arguing.

The group was left to talk again and once again everyone was hooting and hollering as if real lives were on the line. There was an understanding that Alfie would most likely be voted out next, really it was a miracle he was still her. You were worried that when Alfie got voted out everyone would gang up on you and you would be too flustered to defend yourself. Nikko was suspicious that Alfie backed Aj and then voted him which would have been suspicious if you didn't know Alfie. Everything Nikko was saying was , in your mind, to convince you that it was Alfie by making Alfie admit to things that would make him seem guilty. You saw through it. You brought up the idea of Lacy as saying it was Nikko to Nikko seemed silly. Nikko shut you down saying that Kenny trusts him too much and so it doesn't make sense but you weren't convinced. Alfie went to go clear his name with the others and Nikko turns to you

"I'm gonna be so honest 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟, I know you think it's me but it's Alfie. He's playing you and you're falling for it." You shook your head "good" he looked at you with the most confused face you'd seen all day "good?" "Bye, fuck out my face" you said playfully running off deciding not to listen to his gaslight you.

Nikko joins Alfie in the other room after determining its not worth it to try convince you. You sit back and listen to them all yell at eachother about how your boyfriend is a liar. You think about how worked up he got about Lacys comments and how his arms looked when he held him up. You giggle to yourself as you skip into the room where everyone else was. "Well well well" Kenny says with a smug look on his face "don't start" Alfie says firmly but Kenny ignores him "if it isn't the murderers murderess " "prick" Alfie gets out before you decided its time you defend yourself so as Alfie opens his mouth to tell him off you put your hand on it to silence him. " let me tell you what we aren't gonna do" you started and everyone shut up " we aren't going to blame me and accuse me for the entire game with literally no proof and ignore the fact Nikko is playing in our faces" you sit yourself up on the table and Alfie crosses his arms like he has a clue what's going on. what you didn't know was that right before you walked in Kenny and Lacy were yelling about Nikko and Alfie fabricating a story in the other room. Kenny then went with Nikko to another room and you stayed listening to Alfie and Lacy arguing. You found it amusing that it was so easy to get the blame off you and wondered if you would have made a good murderer.

You ended up all in the kitchen and for the 50th time in the game Kenny was defending Lacy like they had been best friends for years. It made sense that Alfie defended you because you were dating but Kenny and Lacy... you couldn't help but wonder if they know that it's legal now.

The final round table rolled around, and you were confident you were going to lose. You knew Kenny would defend Lacy, and you knew Alfie was going to be voted first, so you just decided to have fun and not worry about the game. Alfie brings up the one on one's with Nikko, which was your point, but you let it slide because he's fit. Kenny claims whoever is the murderer is clearly very skilled at the game and then points at himself, you and Lacy, and says, "So it's definitely not us."Oi, what's that all about then?" You say in your best northern accent to which Alfie pretends to be offended by.

Everyone, as usual, is yelling at each other, which is something you had just learned to accept at this point as men love to make loud noises. Lacy then throws your name out again "𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟 has been pretty quiet the entire game just putting that out there" Alfie rolls his eyes "she's shy man" and you cross your arms and look at Lacy " you know YOU talk a lot but it's not all quality " emphasising the "you" and Alfie cheers proudly.

After a lot of back and forth it landed on Alfie again and everyone except you voted for him. Alfie voted for Kenny and you sighed at how pointless that was. Everyone points fingers at you for not voting Alfie and you just respond "blah blah blah meh meh meh" with a little hand puppet.

Everyone voted to keep playing this time everyone is looking at Nikko. Nikko is pointing fingers at you but three against one means no matter how hard he fights against you he's gone. There was some back and forth and bickering but eventually as you already knew Nikko got voted out. And then there were three.

You all voted to play on again, and so now it was this round or nothing. You knew there was no changing Kennys mind, so you decided why not have some fun with it.The second the round began, and you started laughing.

They both looked at you like you had three heads. "And what Is so funny murderess?" Kenny says keeping the nickname he made up for you . "I've won haven't I?" You say confused. They both start yelling and laughing "I killed people and I convinced you to vote people and not a single person voted me once... I win no?" You said pretending you were super confused.

"Your an idiot do you know that? Actually dumb" Kenny said laughing and you can hear a faint "oi" from behind the curtains. "So I didn't win then?" You say with a pout. Kenny is now convinced that he's won and that him and Lacy beat everyone so when it was time to vote it came to no surprise that you got voted. Especially since you voted yourself out.

As you walk behind the curtains you see Alfie waiting for you. He brings you far enough they can't hear you at the table. "Were you actually the murderess that entire time?" He says laughing "no but Kenny wanted some alone time with Lacy so I thought I'd see myself out" and you both exploded into laughter. When you made your way back to the group Kenny was in shock and Chunkz, Nikko and Lacy thanked you for being the 4th murderer to which you laughed. To think at the beginning of the game you were dreading the idea of being the murderer and now you made yourself an honorary murderer.

You wrap up filming, and you head home from the shoot. You and Alfie are in the same user, obviously on the way to your shared flat. There's comfortable silence for a moment before he looks at you. "That was sick, by the way," you smile. "I know I was like ehhh I'm not gonna win this, so I could just clip farm and...." You go on and on about how exciting it was and how much fun you had, and he watches you with the biggest and goofiest grin on his face. He loves it when you get like this, all excited and full of energy and giggles. He could listen to you talk forever. You noticed the way he's looking at you. "What? am I being too much?" You say suddenly getting self conscious about how much you were talking "no no never " he says as he pulls you in for a hug and kisses your hair line "never too much " you smile at the sweetness of the moment "that's what she said"

and they all lived happily ever after the end (idk how to end this<3)
