A Black Panthers press conference at the Alameda County Courthouse, featuring Bobby Seale (1967)
Black Civil Rights activists have been decrying police brutality and saying #BlackLivesMatter longer than you might think. And white-owned corporate media has dutifully distorted that message for just as long.
Obviously this is not new material.
Anyone who says, “But what are your policy demands, what do you really want?” is being disingenuous or willfully ignorant, because black people have clearly been repeating the exact same message over and over and over and over: stop racism, stop housing discrimination and economic racism, stop over-policing black communities, stop police brutality, and stop murdering us.
