The question was unexpected, especially after the various meetings they had had already, where bullets were fired and darts had been flying. Their IBMs were familiar with each other, having been tangled with one another various times already – he had seen into her past, and surely it did seem less dark than his own… at least before he got captured that is.

But despite the fact that she was working for ‘the other side’ of this whole thing, he had saved her. It was out of kindness in a way, but mostly because he hated humanity. Had he not interfered, she would have been captured and displayed upon that table. He did not want that to happen – for ten years he had felt what it was like to be a test subject, and truly – he did not even wish that to happen to his WORST enemy. No… no one deserved a treatment so inhumane.

Yet… he had no answer for the question she asked. Were they still enemies? Surely, he wasn’t truly on Satou’s side any longer – he had betrayed him already, and surely wasn’t safe. But still… she was working for the people who put him on that table, and he still could not understand why.

Wouldn’t that resistance have formed, then there would have been no problem. Was it truly such a strange request, to simply ask for rights, just like ‘normal’ human beings? They weren’t dangerous -- not at all... at least not until they would be hunted. Then they would fight back -- at least HE would fight back. Would they drop their hunting, then he would drop the fighting, as there would be no need.
