Circa 1915, 4-Light Art Nouveau Chandelier with Deep Etched Finger Shades -

This is actually a flush fixture in that the drop is very close to a foot. Usually for a fixture that is within this range there is not much going on but this Art Nouveau fixture breaks that rule with beautiful period detailing. Hammered Body and wonderful stylized arms just right to be able to walk under on your 8 foot ceiling.

Circa 1915, Pagoda Shaped Leaded Glass Inverted Dome - Here is the Asian influence on the Arts and Crafts period in evidence again. White and amber Slag Glass crafted in the shape of a Pagoda with an incredible Cast Bronze hanger. Cast Bronze Husks and Chain creates a very graceful suspension that would work in a Stairwell between two floors. Has a three light cluster with porcelain sockets and high heat wire to provide really plenty of illumination. Also a wonderful light to enhance a Vaulted Ceiling.

Circa 1880, Thackera and Company 3-Light Aesthetic Gas Chandelier -

Thackera did business in the 1880's out of Philadelphia and is known for their Aesthetic Chandeliers. Very often, as in this case, they used Longwy Pottery cylinders in the chandeliers. This one has the same flowers as the braces that decorate the arms. Depicted on one side is a bird and on the opposite side 2 Ducks swimming with a salmon background which I believe is meant to be a Full Moon as the bird is in Yellow Sunlight. The fixture boasts very large Castings as well as really super Deep Etched shades with spades. The birds are a very significant symbol of the Aesthetic Movement and the spades etched into the shades are characteristic Eastlake Details.

Circa 1880, Pair of Aesthetic Gas Sconces - Really beautiful Aesthetic Gas Sconces from 1880 with vey interesting transfer etched shades are quite understated for Victorian Sconces which is the rule of the reform period in the Victorian Era. The reform period was a reaction to Victorian Ornamentation and these Aesthetic sconces even though ornate, from our modern point of view, show the interests of a new design discussion that was happening. Previous Victorian fixtures of the Revival period harked back to designs created in Europe and held important until the Aesthetic and Eastlake ideas took hold.

Very nice cut out pattern behind the bottom panel that allows the Slag Glass illumination to come through. The shear number of these Domes allows for a lot of possible uses.
