It would likely come as no surprise that they were unfazed by his lack of response to her antics. Hemera was - unfortunately, as she would claim - used to it from Emet-Selch. He was frightfully boring at times and simply didn't have the imagination to enjoy her antics. Talking with him right now was almost like being home in Amaurot. Almost. He just wasn't wearing an unpleasant scowl or lecturing her. Yet. They assumed there was always room for that to change.
"The intention is to catch it. If, however, the beast is causing issues, we'll need to kill it. Hence, I sought you out. That's more your jurisdiction than mine. Doesn't matter much to me, but I'd prefer not to get threatened with a censure again all the same." As far as she was concerned, the creature could just be remade. It was, more or less, approved within limits to act as a guard beast for a rather anxious researcher.
Even though there were politics at play, which never failed to drive them up a wall.
"Your butterfly is cute."
Styx contemplated the offered words in silence, his vision switching betwixt company and insect. Politics were not something he paid any particular attention to, frankly - he was told what to do, did it, and carried on with his day, usually. Anything related to government or whatnot went right over his head and he liked to keep it that way.
The mention of the butterfly, however, catches his attention briefly, his foot twitching just enough for the butterfly to take off - bright wings batting near to him but didn't actually leave.
"...It doesn't leave me alone." He admitted as he stood, the insect evidently quite content to follow wherever they were intended to head. "Where was the creature last seen? We ought to be able to track it from there."
"You're socializing now," she pointed out, bright citrine eyes alight with amusement. It was Hemera's doing, of course, but what else was new? Very rarely were they here due to pleasure, oft it was due to business, and this case was no different. Azem was needed where Azem was needed - big or small - and there was nary a task she turned down. Including missing creatures, it would seem.
Casually, Hemera remained unmoving, even as her own jellylfish familiar gently bounced about as it floated in the air near her head. "Creature. Doubt they'd ask me to help with a book." Creatures were slightly harder to recreate. Theoretically. "The dangerous when provoked kind, I fear."
Styx gave a rather detached hum toward her quip, the acidic tone resting upon the butterfly still resting on the toe of his boot. He wouldn't move to stand until it moved, and for but a moment it appeared as if it held the entirety of his attention; 't was clear that he was largely unused to conversation, but he didn't shut down or walk away.
"...Does it need to be found and caught or found and killed-? Because I'm better at one than the other." Given his work, that was. Styx wasn't one known for coaxing creatures into nets or safer places. No - he was usually only deployed there, into the lush pastures of Elpis, when something needed destroying.
i really wanna remake my banners for this blog but idek what to dooooo

"...I prefer the quiet out here." The admittance came quietly, directed mainly toward the sight of the stars above - the darkness of the sky stretching as far as one could see, glittering with the cosmos. 'T was a sight one often couldn't see if in the confines of the city, the light pollution usually prevented it - but the surrounding expanse of nature beyond the small campfire was far more akin to home to him than anywhere else.
"You're welcome to warm yourself. The temperature is due to drop soon and the wind does tend to get more brisk out here, in the grasslands." One of his favourite places to linger, at that. Peaceful, beautiful - no end of wildlife, no end of interesting things to come across.
@bladeshowers || LIKED for a STARTER with Styx for Hemera
"...I don't know anythin' about it." Styx uttered, eyes down - focus entirely on the butterfly currently perched on the toe of his right boot. His person sat, quite comfortably at that, within the plush grass near a small settlement within Elpis - the long length of his sharpened scythe resting to one side.
"...I don't... do social things. If someone has misplaced somethin', I don't know about it-" Eyes of pure acidic green sweep the landscape ahead of him; "Misplaced a book or belonging or... are we talking some kinda' creature?"

"I'm not really sure... where anyone is at this time of the morning." Beneath the morning chorus of birds and the softened breeze cutting across the meadow, Achaeus spoke - the tone of his blue eyes taking but only a moment to gaze around surroundings in the hopes of espying someone with infinitely more authority than he; "Though- most do not emerge from their homes, usually, for another hour or so-"
"Is there... anything I can help you with, perhaps?" He'd no authority, no particular skill, was naught more than a simple botanist but there may just be something he could do, largely depending - and he always did feel better if he offered, at least. Most would turn him down, or ignore him entirely for that matter but - that wasn't a detail relevant to their current conversation.
