Life in the forest had become lonely. He hadn’t seen anybody in a while. Which was not all too odd, mortals move on with their lives after all. And winter had set in, covering his beautiful forest in a blanket of glittering white. In his deer form, he blended right in. The pure white of his fur kept him hidden and comfortable as he went about his business, checking on the animals that were hibernating and blessing their sleep. Though he did feel at the back of his mind someone entering his forest.
The god turned his head, black beady eyes searching for the visitor. Letting out a smile he started off towards the familiar presence. He’d recognize that soul anywhere!
The god wrapped his arms around her, concern evident in his expression. He had already noticed the somber aura around her. It had been so long...
“I missed you too! It gets quite lonely out here but...What’s got ya wilted, sunflower?”

Sleeping for so long was always a problem for when Rusa woke up. The small god groaned as he cracked his eye sockets open. His antlers were still thanking from their stone case. He looked down, smiling when he saw the vines that had wrapped protectively around him while he slept. Gently lifting them off himself and setting them down, he thanked them.
Someone was in his forest. Someone….familiar. Tallow! A grin spread across his skull as he stood up, looking around. Where was he? Rusa was tired, very very tired but missed his favorite mortal.
“It….depends”
His small hands are fidgeting with the other’s jacket, his concern for the other growing. He really wasn’t supposed to talk about the afterlife with mortals but really how could he deny his lover.
“Is something bothering you, Tally?”
He fidgeted, <<I was there. Or something like it. I saw her. Jane. But it was…empty? Quiet.>> He seemed agitated, bothered by this fact above all else. <<It was a bit like the haze you get when you’re just waking up. As if it’s not quite real. She told me she didn’t know if it was heaven, but that she had been there for awhile.>> He frowned, <<I’ve been thinking now, for awhile, what it mean that I was there and came back. That I couldn’t have really been in heaven. I don’t suppose the gods give us back our lives so easily. But if I was in some sort of strange limbo then,>> He trailed off, hands shaking. He let out a huff, <<Then so is she. She’s stuck. And that hurts. I’ve been spending the past four years trying, trying my hardest to get over her. And she hasn’t even been able to move on.>> Never mind the fact that he had died. Lets ignore that for now.
The god furrowed his browbones at the other, studying Tallow.
“You’ve been to limbo? Tallow? You died??”
His eyes searched the other, looking for any indication that he might be pulling his leg but....why would Tallow joke about something so serious? Rusa pet his cheek, small hands caressing the other in what he hoped was comfort.
“You’re very lucky to be out of there....”
The skeleton let a soft probably very expensive blanket materialize in his hands from his temple. It was one that was left to him as an offering but Tallow probably needed it more right now. He draped the blanket around his boyfriend, eyes sad as he watched.
“Your...friend is most likely to stay there. It is not common for those to leave.”

The god snorted, prancing right on up to her gleefully when he saw her. His eyes were bright, and he lay his snout atop her head, snorting again happily. Shrinking back down to his skeleton form, he floated in front of the other, grinning widely.
“Well long time no see!”

Rusa took the apple gently, his sharp teeth tearing into it easily as he munched on it gratefully. His eye lights watched Tallow rub and his neck curiously. He let a hand wander up and cup Tallow’s cheek.
“Hey are you okay?”
He didn’t figure the other was. The small antlered skeleton grew concerned.
Tallow has just taken a bite, and chewed thoughtfully before answering. He raised and lowered his hands a couple of time before he was able to form the question that had been on the tip of his tongue. Er…fingers.
<<You’re a god. Do you know what heaven is like?>>
Rusa raised an eyebrow at the other, taking another bite as he studied. That wasn’t an answer to his question but he’d be more than happy to oblige.
“If you mean the afterlife then yes. I do know what it is like. Me and Death are actually good friends, we hang out some times even”
He smiled at the other like that was a perfectly normal thing to say.
“Why do you ask?”

Tallow plopped down at the base of a tree, sweat beading on his skull. He had been searching for Rusa’s temple for hours, unsuccessful. He was starting to think he would never find him. Perhaps he had been gone too long. Perhaps the god had gotten to bored and simply forgot about him.
Hmm. He closed his eyes. Resting for a moment would be good.
Rusa followed where his soul took him, leading him to his lover. Tallow! Oh it had been so long, but….not long enough for him to not wanna mess with him. Quietly out of view, the deity popped up into the tree branches above the tall skeleton. He observed, grinning down at Tallow.
Letting an apple materialize in his hands, he lined it up before letting it fall down towards him and….straight through the holes of Tallows hand.
Tallow jolted awake, the foreign sensation of an apple lodged in his hand making him laugh at the absurdity of the situation. He looked around first, before looking straight up, expression breaking into a smile. Tallow worked the apple out of his hand, shaking the extremity out before signing,
<<You’re a sight for sore eye sockets.>>
Rusa smiles right back, letting himself fall gently down to the other, landing in Tallow’s lap, hands immediately reaching out to cradle his face before placing a kiss on the other.
“Glad to hear it—or. See if I guess”
Rusa nuzzled the other, humming.
“Did you like my gift?”

antlered-deity:
The small god had awoken not all the sooner than his lover had entered the forest. The first signs of winter starting to settle in. His robes dragged softly on the snow covered ground, though he didn’t feel the cold. What he did feel, however, was the familiar presence of…Prise!
He grinned widely, settling himself down in a soft patch of snow, glittering along with the chains and jewels on his antlers. He waited, just outside his temple for his lover to arrive.
The first little signs of winter were nice. It wasn’t full-on snowy winter wonderland like Snowdin was, so it was a nice change of scenery, but it was still pleasantly chilly, with enough snow he felt comfortable. Summer was not something he was used to, and given that he liked to wear baggy sweaters, he often felt overheated. This, this was nice.
His steps were slow as he approached the shrine, bracing himself for yet another bout of disappointment and grief. But… he saw sparklies. Lots of sparklies. Familiar antlers, a wide grin…
“RUSA!”
His voice was high in shock, and he clamped down on his lollipop with his teeth to rush forward, surprised, delighted, relieved.
“MY DEER! YOU’RE AWAKE!”
He practically tackled the deity, hugging him tight, his bones shaking slightly. Purplish tears started to well up in his sockets. He was so relieved. So happy.
“I’VE MISSED YOU SO MUCH.”
Rusa laughed as he hugged Prise back, flowers popping up and out of the snow covered ground. The god giggled and pressed his teeth to the other’s holding his face in his small hands.
“I missed you too my flower!”
He nuzzled into the other, breathing in his scent.
“It has been to long”
