“okay dont be scared it’s not your first time meeting him”
“he’s probably nervous too” you thought to yourself trying to calm down
you were sweating from head to toe due to the heat and anton was still no where to be found
“did he stood me up…” “nah he wouldn’t”
just then a guy wearing a relaxed off-white crew-neck tee, slightly oversized, tucked loosely in front with Straight-fit light wash jeans tapped on your shoulder. (both of you were wearing masks to prevent being spotted)
“hey sorry for letting you wait outside in the scoring sun for so long. should we go in and order?”
anton looked effortless put together like he didn’t try you suddenly forgot how to breath
realising that you were staring at him for way too long you immediately snapped out of it and answered him
“i didnt wait for that long anyways. let’s go in”
“i’ll have the strawberry matcha and he’ll have the…?”
“i’ll have the salted caramel matcha latte”
you looked at him stunned “i didn’t know you had matcha here before! this place is famous for their salted caramel matcha”
“hah guess you learn new things everyday dont you”
just when you were taking out your card to pay, anton already had his card out and paid for both of your drinks
“HEY i said i would pay remember”
“you said you’ll pay for dinner. are you tryna scam me”
“man i wanted to pay. i was the one inviting you out”
“i can’t let you pay for both dinner and drinks can i!”
the cashier over hearing your conversation slipped in and said “he’s right your boyfriend should pay for your drinks!”
before neither of you could say anything the cashier had already moved on to the next customer
“haha well awkward…” you said looking over to anton who looks nonchalant about it and even has a slight smile on his face
You both found a bench in the park and sat there. The air is cool enough — not cold, not warm
A couple joggers pass every now and then, headphones in, footsteps rhythmic and distant. Somewhere, a dog shakes its collar and the little jingle echoes through the stillness.
“how’s the matcha?” he asked
“great” you replied sipping away your matcha.
“i can’t believe your from new jersey AND a 04 liner AND we are both friends with riku like what are the odds” you said amusingly
“right like it’s gotta be fate at this point”
“so how’s your schedule nowdays”
“well we have tours left and right it’s quite busy if im gonna be honest how bout you”
“its alright i guess just have some filming and about that”
“have you gone back to nj since debut?”
“now that i think about it ion think so…” anton replied realising how much he missed it there
the both of you were talking about good nj places to visit for a good 30 minutes while sipping your matcha and enjoying the view
just then anton’s phone rang — it was his bandmates
“anton manager min said we’re leaving early you should probably head back now”
“you should probably go what if you miss ur flight for a matcha”
“haha ur funny, sorry for having to suddenly leave i’ll make it uo to you some day”
“dont worry about it you literally paid for my matcha”
“go on now if not your really gonna miss your flight”
you each say your goodbyes and headed back
