Did you ever finish that 3D model of St Mystere? Just the untextured models look fantastic, so it would be great to see it completed. :)

I unfortunately lost the original files due to a hard drive failure a few years back so I’m sorry to say that I no longer have access to the original model anymore.

I should probably revisit the project again though...

a silk top hat would probably be most fitting, right?

Silk certainly sounds good for the top hat, I’ll see if I can find a good texture reference to use.

It’s been a while but I finally got around to rig Layton’s model so he’s no longer stuck in a T-pose. Guess It’s on to applying the Normal and Specular maps for some added details.

If you’ve got any suggestions for what clothing materials I should use for Layton’s outfit (stuff like Denim, Leather, Cotton etc) feel free to let me know.

A work in progress for a little project I’m hoping to get done soon. Just need to do some polishing up before I rig the model and add bump maps etc.

A custom stock icon for Professor Layton based off the new HUD icons from the new upcoming Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Hopefully the Layton series will at least receive some acknowledgement this time around in the form of trophies or something, if not playable...

Remember the Super Mario Maker based sprites I’ve made of Professor Layton, Luke Triton and Flora Reinhold last year?

A modder by the name of Fleebok has successfully imported the sprites in the actual game itself, making it possible to play as those characters too (Well, to some extend, from what I understood, it isn’t yet possible to give them their own slot so they will have to replace an existing Mystery Mushroom character, and they don’t have their own sound files yet so they will have to use another character’s sound files for now)

Now that I know that it’s possible to import custom mystery mushroom characters into Super Mario Maker, I might do a few more characters too.

I was told to make Mona look a bit more realistically proportionate. So here’s her designed after her proportions from Wario Ware Smooth Moves this time around instead of Wario Ware Inc Mega Party Games. Do let me know what you think.

Done some polishing up for Mona’s model, do let me know if there should be any tweaks or changes before I start texturing her.

Also happy to hear any suggestions for palette swaps for Mona if you’ve got any ideas, I might consider them.

A proof of concept for an original character I’m working on, this one is going a bit more for a more detailed animated movie looking style rather than the Toon styles my previous works went for. This isn’t final though and a lot will change between this and later updates. Take care.

Well it took a while but I think its about time I called it wraps with this character.

So I went up and changed Flora’s face up a little. Rather than making her eyes (and some of her mouth sprites) fully modeled, I went for a more hand drawn approach instead. I think it makes her look more accurate to her source design.

The reason I did this was because I thought to try modding Flora over Peach for Smash Wii U but that didn’t exactly go too well for me. (I think I’ll probably have to ask a more skilled programmer for help on that instead.) Thus I gave Flora all the expressions that Peach has in that game (Or close to them while still keeping them in Flora’s character) while keeping her general model as high poly as the system could handle.

Eitherway, I’ve been working long enough on this character now so I should probably release her very soon for the general public’s use and I’ll see how things will take off from there (Knowing the internet though, hopefully she won’t be used for anything too awkward.... :T)

I’m just going to finish off a few extra facial expressions she had in her sprites from the second and third game and then I’ll post her over to the models resource.

PS. for those who preferred her old face, I’ll probably keep that along with the model too, just in case.

A puzzle solving animation for Flora, sorry if it looks a little rough around the edges, I’m still a little bit new to animating 3D models and this is probably the most interesting one I’ve made so far (The rest are mainly simple idle or walk cycles and all....)

Hopefully I’ll be able to take this further and use her for various personal projects that may become available for me to do at some point. SinceLevel5clearlyisn’tplanningtouseheranytimesoonapparentlycough.... :T

I think I should probably set up a YouTube account for this sort of stuff.

And here we have Luke and Flora rendered together. 

I’m not sure if I’ve put them exactly to scale as their heights seem to vary between certain artworks throughout the series. At one point Flora is only an eye taller than Luke and in another Luke only comes up to her chin. Of course this does also factor in Flora’s modern design or her design’s of the first game since she wears higher heels in the newer games whereas I designed her with shorter heels in this model (mainly for the sake of keeping her consistent with her Curious Village design’s since I want to include those too.)

Eitherway, I’m happy with how they both overall turned out. I’ll see what other Layton characters I’ll do next. But if you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know. ^^

Luke Triton in full colour and bones applied. I’m not sure if I’m quite satisfied yet on how he turned out but at least he’s in a more presentable state now.

Anyway, I’ve also included a set of palette swaps too. They might be a bit more tricky to figure out compared to Flora’s since a few of those belong to some minor NPC’s.

A work in progress of the next character I’m working on, I’ve more or less finished the base of Luke’s model. Just need to work on his bag as well as model his facial expressions like I did for Flora. Then all that’s left is polishing up the model so that it’s ready for textures and bones to be applied.
