hi! i was wondering if you have any advice on how to not feel so embarrassed when bringing bears with you in public? i want to bring mine along with me but im always so scared people will give me weird looks :'3
Hi! Okay so I have a bunch of little pieces of advice for this and it entirely depends on the person so just pick and choose whichever works !
• First, start off with a plushie you know people will love! I got a LOT of positive attention when I was carrying around my Grogu (The Child/Baby yoda) build a bear plushie. People were also obsessed with KK slider and Isabelle (From animal crossing)
This definitely helps out when you first start carrying around stuffed animals, simply because you realize 1) people rarely—if ever—react negatively 2) not a lot of people notice 3) the ones who do usually love it
• Second, carry around a big bag you can hide your plushie in if you start feeling embarrassed! For awhile when I was carrying around Arturo I had a backpack that I could put him in completely in case I got nervous about having him out. Having the option to hide your plushie just in case relieves a LOT of nerves
• Third, start small! There’s tons of small plushies that are super unnoticeable even if you have them out with you the entire day. For awhile I carried around a beanie baby kitty! He was super easy for me to bring out and about and he was rarely noticed
• Last, if anyone asks, just say it’s for a school project! I rarely get judgemental questions but when I do I usually just say something along the lines of my BAB being part of a highschool/college school project. Strangers usually don’t inquire more and if they do it might be fun to come up with a little story (mine usually is that Im creating a scrap book of memorable moments involving childhood toys, usually for a psych or art class) and that gets them to lay off pretty quickly. But again, people rarely ask or care LMFAO and those who do are usually super nice about it!
After awhile carrying around your plushie sort of becomes a part of your daily life and you stop caring about how other people feel about it! But I totally understand it being nerve wracking at the beginning. It’s something you sorta have to jump in and start doing and then slowly adjust to!

Jellycat bunnies in a large-scale UK toy store. I want the star bunny and someone has reserved one for me. She will be my first Jellycat!
Rose Dragon
Had him almost a year now. Love my boy! He is my emotional support pillow!
So a couple months back I bought this bab wolf for more money than any grown adult should for a plushie… but he’s become my new bestie. He’s a 2015 Howl-o-ween werewolf which meant he cost more than retail, but he had been a major iso of mine ever since I got into build a bears. He had been a display bear before, so came with a tag and everything. Now he is my #1 cuddle buddy!
Expanding my horizons in the plush community. My main interest was only build a bears, but I now have a special interest in jellycats too. Gotta say I’ve been delving into this community more and more and it’s just so comforting and wholesome. It’s now a daily ritual of mine to scroll through all my plushie groups with wolfie or another bab by my side!
You ever store some of your plushies away for a bit because your not in a cuddly mood, and then you feel guilty when you bring them back out. I still love you BAB Light Fury, I just can't fit you all in my bed.

-this is my most treasured possession i have, the stuffed animal i have had sincei was naught but an infant, his name is doodoobutt (i named him when i was 3) and i still sleep with him as a pillow every single night of my life
