If a documentary is made about how suckish 2020 was, they should call it “2020: The Year of Calamity”. A fitting name for a calamitous year, no?

I was at my own local Comic-Con today, and I had the pleasure of meeting Josh Grelle, the English-dubbed voice of Armin Arlert in “Attack on Titan”. It was absolutely wonderful to be able to talk with him, and I hope I will get to do it again someday. He signed a picture of Armin, and if you look closely, you can see that it says: “Join the Scouts… we have cookies!”

The Final Battle (Wolf Boy Roleplay)
(12/19/17)
To celebrate three wonderful years of friendship, my little sister figure Mary (aka spiritedxmakorrian) and I are doing a small roleplay of a scene from the second book of my future book series: “The Wolf Boy”.
———————————————————————————
Sarah and Landon led their friends to a small hill. They had traveled for two whole weeks across the Chugach Mountains, to find the poachers that were unlawfully killing carnivores, as well as holding many wolves hostage. They had finally found their hiding place, and they were ready to fight and stop the lawbreakers. “Well, we made it,” Sarah whispered to her boyfriend (Landon), who nodded in agreement.
“Yeah….” He paused, staring into an area well past the enemies’ hideout. He was lost in thought and his reply sounded distant.
“What is it?” Sarah whispered, setting a hand on Landon’s shoulder.
He sighed, but he didn’t look at her. “Is this worth it?” he asked in a hushed tone. “I mean, we have such a big army… If we don’t win this… this could lead to a massacre…”
“I know you’re scared,” Sarah said. “Believe me, I’m scared too, but there’s nine of us and only four of them. We can win this. If we want to save Hinto and those other innocent wolves, we have to fight.” She changed into her wolf form for emphasis.
Landon pressed his forehead against hers. “I know… It’s just… there’s a possibility…” He trailed off. “… I just hope this works.”
“It will, I promise,” Sarah whispered. She turned to everyone else. “Does everyone remember their tasks?”
The army behind them responded to her question with nods or various affirmative sounds.
The team began their descent down the hill, keeping their senses heightened in case they happened to be ambushed. They all knew that once they began their assault on the lawbreakers, there’d be no backing out. Once they made it into the cabin’s yard, they were even more alert. They looked around, and after a minute of doing so, it looked clear. However, in the bushes adjacent to the group, Sarah heard a creaking sound. That’s when she saw an arrow aimed at Landon. “Landon, look out!” she screamed, pushing Landon out of the way just as the arrow fired. It struck her in the shoulder and she fell to the ground.
Landon whipped around in time to see the impact and his eyes grew wide. “Sarah!” He rushed over to her, taking on his wolf form and using his head to scoop her onto his back. He turned back around to order the rest of the pack to attack as he ducked into a dip behind a bush, resting Sarah there.
Dukey, having witnessed what just happened to Sarah, began to feel a rage boiling inside of him, and he turned to Fish. “Fish, you thinking what I’m thinking, my friend?” he asked the husky.

Caesar smiled more and rested his forehead against hers. “Just relax, love,” he insisted. “I promise things will be okay.”
Anuri nodded. “Hey, Caesar, do you remember all the mischief we’d get into as pups?” she asked.
He couldn’t help but chuckle at how enthusiastic she suddenly became. “How could I forget us finding every mud puddle within reach after being bathed?”
“Ah, that,” Anuri said with a small smile. “You and I used to love playing in the mud, as most rambunctious pups usually do. And...” Her smile suddenly faltered as she suddenly remembered something from her past.
Caesar smiled more and rested his forehead against hers. “Just relax, love,” he insisted. “I promise things will be okay.”
Anuri nodded. "Hey, Caesar, do you remember all the mischief we'd get into as pups?" she asked.
Korra sighed and gently wiped the tears from Anuri’s face. “Anuri… you’re the one having all this stress. I just want to help get rid of it. And there’s no need to protect me that way. I’ll be fine.” She knew her response was brief, but she honestly didn’t know what to say. It was true, but she couldn’t say what she wanted to add. Plus, she felt her energy draining and her words escaping her. “I’ll be fine…”
Anuri nodded and said, “Let’s go to sleep. We both need rest.”
Korra wordlessly agreed with a short bow of her head and a soft hum.
Later that night, whilst Korra lay sleeping in the other room, Anuri woke up around 2 a.m. She couldn’t sleep, because her mind was going a million to nothing, so she got out of bed and went outside for some fresh air. Little did she know that another certain individual was also awake.
“Awake again?” Caesar had quietly made his way over to her after hearing shuffling outside; Anuri never was much of a sneaker.
Anuri sighed sadly and nodded. “My mind won’t rest, therefore my body can’t rest,” she said. “And I may have just set myself up for something terrible.” There were tears in her eyes.
Caesar wordlessly took her into his arms. “Do you need to talk about it?”
Anuri sniffed. “The demonic winged werewolves really do exist,” she said. “One of them attacked and injured Shira. In my anger, I challenged Genbu to a fight on the night of the harvest moon, but that’s in three days’ time. I’m SCARED, Caesar.” She wept openly now.
“Darling, how are you so sure he took the challenge?” he asked. “Surely he didn’t hear you. I doubt he’d take a challenge made in the heat of the moment.”
“I hope you’re right,” Anuri sniffed. “The last thing I want is for anything bad to happen to anyone.”
Caesar smiled softly. “You don’t need to worry about that. We’ll be protecting them, right?” He pressed a kiss to her forehead.
It took Anuri about a minute, but eventually a smile came on her face as well.
Korra sighed and gently wiped the tears from Anuri’s face. “Anuri… you’re the one having all this stress. I just want to help get rid of it. And there’s no need to protect me that way. “Don’t count on it; I’ll keep my eyes peeled.” With that, she went on her way.
Anuri smiled as she watched Rosa and her friends take off towards the large island a little ways off from Air Temple Island. She then turned back to Korra. “Korra, I think we best be going too,” she said almost too quietly, for she was tired, not only physically, but also mentally.
Korra nodded in understanding. “Alright then,” she murmured back. “Where do you wanna go?”
“We need to head back to Air Temple Island, because if Shira”–Anuri looked at Shira briefly and then back to Korra–“really ran into demonic wolves in the wee hours of the night, then nighttime is no time to be outside.”
Korra frowned slightly. “Then I think we should guard the temple,” Korra suggested. “They shouldn’t be a match for us. We can take ‘em.”
Anuri sighed a little and laid down on her stomach so Korra could get on her back.
Korra frowned even more at her cousin’s unwillingness to respond, but got on despite that. “We gotta do something tonight,” she insisted. “If those bastards were seen in the city, then they may target the temple.”
“We will do something eventually, Korra, just not tonight,” Anuri said. “The harvest moon is in three days; I and just me will face Genbu alone when that time comes, and I have no doubt that he heard my message.” And with that, she lifted off and glided across the bay over to the temple.
Korra huffed, but she knew Anuri was right. This was her battle and Korra had her own to fight as well, it seemed. Nevertheless, she didn’t think she could trust herself to let her go on and fight Genbu on her own. But she remained quiet about it the rest of the way to the temple.
Anuri could feel Korra’s anger and concern. The Avatar was a stress mess as it was, but Anuri felt that if she spoke, it would add more stress to her, so she kept silent for the moment. The silver she-wolf eventually landed on the docks of Air Temple Island, and she laid down on her stomach so Korra could slide off her back. She stood up and lagged back for a minute as Korra began to walk towards the stairs, and she felt tears pool into her eyes and she sniffed, loud enough for Korra to hear her.
Korra’s ears immediately perked up at the sound and she turned her head to stare at Anuri with worry in her eyes. “Anuri?”
Anuri looked up at Korra and slowly padded over to her. Once she was close enough to Korra, she stopped. "I know you may think me as being horribly overprotective and wanting to keep you out of as many fights as possible, Korra, but it's for the right reasons," she said, and the tears spilled over and slid down her furry cheeks in thick lines. "You see, when my grandfather died nearly eight years ago, my entire life changed. I became the sole protector of my homeland and the city you see before you. I went through many stressful times during the five years I spent fighting bear demons, but I managed to get through them day by day because I knew I had to."
Anuri could see that she was steering away from the point, so she said, "My point is, I hate seeing you look so stressed and scared all the time. It tortures and practically kills me inside." The tears were more frequent now. "In my youth, when I was fighting the bear demons, I was afraid every day that I would probably be killed by one of them. But you know what? I stayed alive because I knew you would need me in the future. You were one of my many drives to stay alive." She sat down. "But I still wish it was just me holding all this stress, not you. I'm still scared at the fact that I may not survive my battle with Genbu, but everything I do, I do for the people I love, and that includes you, Korra."
