what would be your dreamscenario for a role play?
I imagine going to a private cardiophile meeting, taking place in an abandoned hospital that we have managed to get the power up and running. It’s often used as a movie set, so any passers by don’t question the sudden surge of visitors.
The rules are simple; pick a patient wristband or an ID on a lanyard. They are offered in different colours, based on the scenario that you would like to be a doctor or patient in. Don’t pressure someone into a roleplay if their selection differs from yours.
For example, a patient with a yellow wristband means that they want to have a general checkup from a doctor with a yellow ID. This ensures that both parties are confident in what they want to do, however they are permitted to back out at any time.
A doctor calls me into their office, for a general checkup. They ask me questions, before proceeding with the examination. My pulse is checked, it’s high from excitement. They take my blood pressure, also elevated from my current mood. The doctor takes a stethoscope and listens to my heart, for an agonisingly long time. I’m instructed to lay down on the table, and my heartbeat is checked again.
After what feels like an eternity of stething, the doctor discusses their findings, and asks if I would be comfortable being referred to another doctor to get an ultrasound and/or ecg done. I agree, and am sent on my way to receive such tests.
Patients and doctors are encouraged to take more colour coded items once they have finished their initial experience, if they crave more cardiophile scenarios. I take a blue one, with instructions to go to the 3rd floor, and pretend to collapse.
I willingly follow the instructions, and within seconds someone is kneeling over me, trying to check my pulse and breathing, before announcing that I need to be taken to resus immediately.
I am loaded onto a gurney, being rushed down the hall, while someone straddles me, desperately pretending to pump my chest back to life. I’m soon in the resus bay, and the room is full of people who immediately know what roles to take. I’m connected to a patient monitor, but the one that everyone is looking at is simulated by the group leader.
My chest is shallowly pumped while someone bags me. All I have to do during this performance of theirs is react to the fake defibs. This goes on for 20 minutes before they either call time or save me.
