Just wondering if you can post this. Does anyone see all the before pictures on here and wish they could just to get that level, let alone the afters? Feeling impossible to get better if I'm not even to that point...
Everyone you see here got to the “before” point by practicing, and got to the “after” by practicing even more. It may seem like a long hill to climb if you’re at the bottom, but like anything else, it’s just about taking one step at a time. Just draw every day. The point of this blog is to show that it’s not only possible to improve at drawing, it’s totally worth it!
I just realized I never posted this here. Anyone can improve at drawing <3
Art by Kageyama Satsuki. “Blood, sweat & tears in to practice for any skill will result in improvement. This was a re-do of old portfolio cover art.”
Illustration by Ian Dale. “Not an exact remake, but very similar illustration 10 years later, fun to compare the differences!“

It's felt like a long 4 years.

I dug up this old piece on my ancient Deviantart account and wanted to revisit it, at least in spirit. The original was one of the first pieces I ever did digitally and with a tablet. For those of you just starting out with tablets and struggling to get used to it: don't worry, keep going, you'll learn what works for you!
I didn't start posting work until 2008. I was a sophmore/junior in college by then, producing art at a much lower quality than I should have been. But six years later at least I can say I made some improvements. Both pieces were done in watercolor back when I was learning how to paint, and now as I continue to flex my craft. For more of my work you can check out https://katgbirmelin.squarespace.com/#/new-gallery-1/ And if you want a good laugh (or a cry) you can see more of the good and the bad here https://katgbirmelin.squarespace.com/blog/2017/1/5/moving-forward-peeking-back
