đ Hana Rhee studying
She likes to write notes (sometimes random) in the margins of her books. This note is from her charms text, found near the instructions for casting a Wand-Lighting Charm:
Devil's Snare (datura stramonium) hates light, fire kills! -> see Incendio
Night gathers, and now my watch begins.
Gift for @the-perfunctorily , NIGHTâS WATCH!

đĄ Part 1 đĄ Part 2
Summary: a prologue of sorts, featuring Naruto (part 3) đ
Since the genocide began, Naruto, Sai, and Kakashi had barely paused for more than a few days in one place, all too aware of how magical creatures were killed in the streets by soldiers and citizens alike. The rare moments of peace among the chaos were what Naruto remembered best, moments when they could forget about the people hunting them, forget everything they'd lost, and enjoy simply existing for a while.
They once took shelter in a vacant cottage on the edge of a small village, drawn out of their makeshift camp by a storm. They made themselves at home in the cottage for the stormâs duration with minimal fear of being discovered.
Naruto remembered sitting by the fireplace in a rickety rocking chair, reveling in the warmth as he listened to the fire's crackle and the rain's pitter-patter. Sai had moved the carpet aside so he could draw on the wooden floorboards, while Kakashi lingered in a shadowed corner that allowed him to discreetly peer out the window.
Warm and content, Naruto had lost track of time, lulled into a state of calm. An idle glance back revealed Kakashi sitting on the floor with his legs drawn to his chest, head cushioned against the arms crossed over his knees, asleep.
Naruto was equally amused and perplexed by Kakashiâs preference for sleeping on the ground or tucked into a corner, even when a perfectly good bed was available. It was just another one of Kakashiâs odd quirks, Naruto decided, like the manâs love for Jiraiyaâs novels and his penchant for masks. There were many things Naruto didnât know about Kakashi and even less he understood. The man was mysterious, and Naruto, having little patience for mysteries, didnât try to understand.
They might have been friends in another life, but Naruto was too broken for that now. It was too late for him.
It wasnât too late for Kakashi.
Naruto poured all his energy into the rune. âI hope you can forgive me for this,â he said to his nearly-dead companion.
Magical feats always had a price. For this kind of feat, the price was lofty, and Naruto wouldnât be the only one paying.
The blood-drawn rune on the rocky ground around them began to glow. He felt a shift in the air. The atmosphere changed, as if it simultaneously dulled and sharpened at once, caught in a state of in-between.
He found this strange suspension to be peaceful.
Naruto always thought heâd die in a fight, not on a bloody riverbank at night, sacrificing his existence to change the course of fate. He never thought his death would be peaceful.
The moment before everything disappeared, Naruto thought about sitting on that rocking chair in front of the cottageâs fireplace, remembered Kakashi being there with him, a loyal companion he hadnât deserved, and mustered a few parting words for his former master.
âGood luck, Kakashi.â
The rune flashed.

Ganbatte (pt 2)
đĄ Part 1
Summary: a prologue of sorts, featuring Naruto (part 2) đ
Naruto began working on the rune after he looked at a crudely drawn transportation rune in Jaraiyaâs journal and thought that, with a little modification, it could be used to transport a person across both space and time.
By then, months had passed since Konoha was burned to the ground. Grieving and angrier than ever, Naruto continuously undermined Kakashi and Saiâs efforts to keep him alive.
He found a little comfort in Jiraiyâs journal, which heâd pulled from his masterâs corpse before fleeing Konoha, recalling countless occasions when Jiraiya paused to write down an idea or sketch an interesting rune inside it. The countless hours he spent analyzing the information scribbled on the worn pages, trying to make sense of Jiraiyaâs notes, led to a moment of inspiration that changed his perspective.
If Naruto could travel to the past, then he could change the present and future. He could use his hard-earned knowledge to make sure nothing bad happened. He could save everyone heâd lost.
He could fix everything.
Designing the rune became his sole purpose. He spent most of his time frustrated with his lack of progress, sometimes lashing out at his companions in anger. They never retaliated, merely relieved Naruto wasnât trying to get himself killed anymore.
Naruto hated that.
He hated everything lately. He hated Sasuke. He hated Madara and his army. He hated humans. He hated Sai for sticking with him. He hated Kakashi for never blaming him for anything. He hated himself most of all.
His friends wouldnât recognize the spiteful thing heâd become. Naruto used to be optimistic. He once thought he could be something great, someone people appreciated, but Madaraâs campaign of genocide made it obvious that humans would never accept him. Trying to keep a happy façade the same way Kakashi feigned indifference couldn't erase the hatred in Narutoâs heart.
The only thing he truly cared about anymore was the rune.
He had trouble designing the rune effectively to account for the dangers involved. Hoping to figure out a possible solution, he started discussing time travel (specifically paradoxes and alternate timelines) with Kakashi, who made a passing comment one day that caught Narutoâs interest.
âMaa, it seems like youâre really talking about rewriting reality.â
And just like that, Kakashi had given Naruto the answer he needed.
Time-altering magic, especially time travel, was tricky for a reason. Time and reality were so closely interwoven, the timeline wouldnât accept change easily. Reality would either break or forcefully invalidate any changes made by an anomaly, so Naruto must first change reality if he wanted to change time.
The solution was simple: both the anomaly and reality must be altered to accommodate each other. Heâd simply rewrite reality to make space for a foreign variable. Any changes made by the anomaly thereafter would be valid.
âYouâre a genius, master!â He patted Kakashiâs shoulder enthusiastically before dismissing himself from the manâs immediate vicinity, eager to resume his rune-designing in peace.
Kakashi had watched him dubiously but refrained from offering unsolicited input. Even if Kakashi had tried to dissuade him from continuing his chosen path, they both knew Naruto wouldnât have listened to reason.

The infamous Jacob Rhee, once a promising Ravenclaw, now known only as the missing (and possibly crazy) expelled Hogwarts student.
Jacob and his younger sister Hana were close. They often exchanged letters during and after his time at Hogwarts, which made his sudden disappearance all the more alarming to her when the letters stopped coming.

Both trolleys hit the barrier and bounced backward; Ronâs trunk fell off with a loud thump, Harry was knocked off his feet, and Hedwigâs cage bounced onto the shiny floor, and she rolled away, shrieking indignantly; people all around them stared and a guard nearby yelled, âWhat in blazes dâyou think youâre doing?â â Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, chapter 5
