Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. The receiver essentially being the judge and jury to whether the messenger lived or died. Of course, these messengers are essentially slaves and if they are given the decision to live, they have to return to their owners.

This is the story of one messenger (aka Catra) who got out and in turn freed the rest of her messenger compatriots, taking the need for these unwilling participants away from these deeds and forcing an end to this terrible practise of “shooting the messenger.”
