zach had gotten up to go to the kitchen to grab himself a snack but he did notice the wince, sitting back down next to her and held the bag towards her. "you okay? seems like you have a headache every time i talk to you now."

"i'm okay" she brushed off. "i've just been getting a lot of migraines lately. i'll be fine once i get some rest, don't worry." aoife didn't want him to worry about her. however, she was a doctor and she knew that there was something going on with her health, not diagnosed yet, but there was something. "if it makes you feel at ease, i've scheduled in to speak with one of the other doctors at the clinic"

"don't worry me and branches are no longer on speaking terms. i'm keeping a closer eye on them to make sure they don't come out of no where from now on." leo chuckled. he knew she didn't believe it but fuck it he had to keep the bit going.

"keeping an eye out would be great, you were lucky not to break bones this time but i hear branches can be petty. i would suggest clay be some assistance to you but i wouldn't put it past you both to somehow manage to fall over branches"

"but.. doesn't that defeat the purpose of a trend? if it's already old news by the time people start doing it then it's not a trend." leo didn't understand trends anyway, that's why he never actually participated in them to begin with. that and he felt he was to old for most of them by this point. "good, i'm going to convince myself that you're actually convinced."

"i don't make the rules, the big fashion houses do apparently. runway and high street trends are set in stone a year in advance" she's learned a lot from speaking to some of the more fashion forward people in town "sure, you do that. just try not to be attacked by any branches again, yeah?"

"showing up how? by pestering me all the time?" zach chuckled with a roll of his eyes, not annoyed at his sister and not really annoyed at his brother either. "whatever, speaking of munchies you got snacks already? we can pop on a movie or something."

"yeah, exactly that" she smiled over at him. the ryan family each had their own way of showing they cared about one another, some more effective than others. the question hadn't reached her ears in full capacity, when aoife had felt a sharp pain in her head. she winced and brushed it off to focus on her brother "wh- ah yeah, yeah there's plenty of snacks in the kitchen for you"

"how can i when all he does is bring up the same thing every time? he hates that i smoke weed and that's the least concerning one one i've actually done." zach knows he's messed with worse before and sometimes still does but hasn't in a bit. "i'm gonna hold you to that the next time i get the munchies."

"he worries about you. we all do. we know you can make your own choices but that's not going to deter us from worrying. sure, he had a different way of showing it than i do but at least he's showing up for you." as much as aoife worried about her brothers drug use, she knew being on him like a tonne of bricks would be more of a battle than a help. "you're more than welcome to. at least i can be around if you ever need anything"

leo would think about it, he probably wasn't going to wear it all the time but maybe when he was relaxing he would. "i beg to differ, new fashion trends tend to pop out almost immediately so some seem to be built in a day." he chuckled and shook his head. "you sound sooo convinced."

"according to some of the fashion forward people in town, apparently trends are decided way in advance. by the time they reach customers it's already old news." she can thank some of the ladies in town for teaching her that fact. "oh yeah, i'm suuuuper convinced that it was a sneak attach from a branch"

leo shook his head with a smile. "i make no promises on wearing it or making it fashionable. i might just make it look like a guy wearing a sling, which is, ya know technically what it is." he gave her a look showing his own amusement as he rolled his eyes playfully at her. "it was out of nowhere i swear!"

"it's your arm, you make the call. i can only advise" it wasn't like she was going to check up on him everyday to make sure he was wearing it "rome wasn't built in a day and neither were fashion empires" she countered in amusement "suuure, i believe you."

"yeah but he can go about it differently like not flicking me and shit." zach rolled his eyes at the memory cause it was annoying then and was more annoying to think about. "i know, i haven't had a rough patch in a while though. i'm good."

"true. have you told him how you feel?" she asked wondering if perhaps the ryan family lack of communication skills were at play. "i'm glad that you're in a better place than you have been previously. you can always find me if you need me, even if it's just for snacks"

leo chuckled awkwardly. "yeah, swear this one came out of no where though." it was still better than admitting that he tripped because his shoelace was untied. he winced a little as she inspected it, "question, do i have to wear the sling? i feel like it's going to clash with like every outfit i own." he joked but if he didn't have to wear it though he wasn't going to.

"a poltergeist branch? ah yes, i hear they catch unsuspecting people who aren't looking where they're going" she gave him a small smile "ideally yes, at least for a week to be on the safe side but i can't force you to wear it if you choose not to. apologies that it's not the cutting edge of fashion. maybe you could make slings stylish, stranger things have happened, y'know, like poltergeist branches" she smirked in amusement

"the usual, keeps getting pissed that i'm high. it's a losing battle that for some reason he decides to keep fighting so whatever i guess." zach shrugged and laid back, staring out into the crowd. "i barely even drink anymore, i just go through rough patches, that's all."

"not to defend our dipshit of a brother, because i'll never go on record with that and it won't stand in a court of law, but he worries about you as much as i do. he might be more in your face about it and since when has louis ever had tact?" she looked to her younger brother "you know you can come find me when you hit a rough patch, right? i'm always going to be here for you"

"i think i'll manage." leo joked. he probably wouldn't tell her the full story because he wanted to protect what little dignity he'd have so he told the partial truth. "i uh, i tripped over a branch in the park and landed straight on my wrist so i figured i'd come here. i can move it but man does it hurt."

aoife walked over and gently took his wrist in her hands to have a look over it. "you tripped over a branch in a park where branches are famously known for being found...you're right it is embarrassing." aoife inspected his wrist further and came to a conclusion "lucky for you that it's not broken. a bandage and a sling will have you back to normal human wrist size in no time"

"i think yes and you will cause no take backs, called it for you, sucks to suck loser." zach said grinning at his sister but his expression fell back to neutral. "right, sorry. just dealing with louis earlier already had me irritated about the whole sun screen thing, he's been like extra annoying to me lately, don't know why."

she rolled her eyes at his petty yet argument winning rebuttal. "no take backs" she repeated with a faint smile "it's louis, he's always annoying. does he have a reason to be extra annoying to you lately?"

leo walked into the clinic holding his hand in between loosely and tightly and went to the first person he saw. "i'm the worlds biggest clutz," he said chuckling and held up his wrist now clearly swollen, "who should i go to about this and who won't ask questions because it's a little embarrassing."

she was about to clock out for the day when he had roamed in with a balloon for a wrist "it certainly looks that way" she answered, amused at how calm he was being "i mean i can help you, but i'm definitely going to have to ask questions for medical reasons. if you can cope with that then your embarrassing secret is safe with me"

"yeah but you need them more than i do." zach said tapping his own temple with his finger before rolling his eyes a little at her. "not you too, i'm not as irresponsible as you guys think i am ya know. i know how to wear sunscreen so i don't turn into larry the lobster."

"my statement still stands, do you really think i'm going to let you roam around here without uv protection on your eyes?" he might be grown but aoife still worried about her younger brother "i don't think you're irresponsible, zach. i just want to make sure you're okay. you can't blame me for wanting to make sure you don't burn to a crisp"

"same but also hangin' out with friends, bothering people, the usual." zach chuckled and looked at his sister as she put the sunglasses on, holding up his hand to do 👌 with a nod. "perfect, they look good on you, keep 'em."

"well at least your having fun, that's all i could ask for" it wasn't an often occurrence but she smiled at her brother "i'm not keeping them, zach. you need them. you think i'm going to let you roam around here without uv protection on your eyes? speaking of which, do you have sunscreen on?"
