Party on you
(Part of you knew)
Thinking about the contrast between the finales of 1x01 and 2x01 vs 3x01. How for the first 2 seasons they end on a promising note. Meanwhile in this 3rd season, it’s a foreboding one.
The purpose of the 2022 interview is Louis wanting to learn the truth. He wants to examine his family, how he ended up losing them all, and how he came to be where he is. He’s not aiming to lie, he wants to show vulnerability and, above all, get better. The whole point is self improvement.
Whereas with Lestat, the purpose of the doc/recordings is the direct opposite and is to run from the truth. He doesn’t want to do self reflection or reveal genuine vulnerability. He’s not trying to get better, he’s trying to feel better. He’s not seeking self improvement, he’s seeking self satisfaction.
And so like, 1x01 and 2x01 end with Louis and Claudia respectively in places of vulnerability. Louis’ at one of his lowest points after Paul’s death, Claudia after Daciana’s, and the episode ends with them being comforted by the person they currently trust most in the world. It’s genuine displays of affection and family and love. Louis’ journey across these 2 seasons is one that will ultimately end on a positive or at least bittersweet note.
But with 3x01, Lestat is also extremely vulnerable and at one of his lowest points, so he calls out to his last resort of comfort. His mother, who he believes may be the last person he can trust most. But the tragedy is that this is just not true. The episode doesn’t end in affection and family and love, it ends in assault.
Loustat at the altar & Louclaudia in the truck have Louis either receiving or giving consoling words. Lestat asks Gabi for help, desperate and clearly scared, and Gabi says nothing. She offers nothing. Well, actually she does worse than that, she takes and proceeds to assault Lestat.
I think about Louis, drenched in sweat and grief, reaching to kiss Lestat first out of appreciation and love. I think about Claudia, still fragile from loss, reaching to hold Louis’ hand first out of the same. Meanwhile, Lestat is covered head to toe in wounds and is the picture of violence and pain and yet it’s Gabi who reaches for him first, beckoning him for a kiss. In his vulnerability, she takes.
I was surprised the episode ended on such a disheartening, tragic note, but I think it’s to emphasize that where Louis’ arc across S1 and S2 ended in something close to positive, Lestat’s arc right now will be a downward spiral where things will only get worse for him from here on out.
The whole thing feels like an inverse of the interview, where there’s a hopeful tone underneath all the wreckage. But with just this first episode, it feels like there’s only more destruction to come.
iwtv seasons one and two was like being tucked into bed and read a heartbreaking story by Louis du pointe du lac. The Vampire Lestat is like your blackout drunk uncle trying to tell you an anecdote at a family gathering
It's eah 13th anniversary 🔥🔥 we up

Doing a final project in my stats class, we have to pick a subject and collect data on it. We need at least 100 data points, and I figured this blog is big enough that a poll on here could get to that pretty easily!
Doing my project on if it’s more likely to be born in certain months :]
I have gotten the OK from my teacher to collect data using a Tumblr poll, btw. I’m also going to have to send her this post as proof of where I got the data from / proof I didn’t just make up the numbers. So. Behave
It's one of many reasons that workers tell Polygon they are eager to unionize.
Employees and developers working on Magic: The Gathering Arena say they were hired with promises of remote flexibility, so they bought homes and built lives around those assurances. But they say they are now being told they may need to relocate to Washington state — or effectively lose their jobs.
Those concerns are a major reason why a supermajority of workers on the Arena team are attempting to unionize with the Communications Workers of America, under the banner United Wizards of the Coast. The group publicly launched its campaign on April 27, calling on Wizards of the Coast and parent company Hasbro to voluntarily recognize the union by May 1.
These employees are doing important and laudable work in response to being forced into a bad situation but I’m glad they still took the opportunity to call themselves “United Wizards”
WotC has still refused to recognize the union and has escalated to sending organizers letters directly to their homes about how unionizing is a bad idea. Luckily, our United Wizards are educated, organized, and agitated and the form letter from Hasbro was as laughable as it was threatening.
If you want to help out the United Wizards you can sign this petition

The Good King and Evil Queen are so interesting conceptually because they’re so fundamentally different and yet. And yet.
And I think about Raven wondering if her mother was like her when she was young, and the small parts of EQ we got to see in the Class of Classics comic, and I wonder. Because the haunting thing about the two of them is how unnecessary they are. He’s her second husband, who she married after her fairy tale already played out. She could have married an evil king, or a villain of some other story, but she chose him.
Likewise, he chose her! He didn’t need to, he didn’t have to follow down that path and condemn himself to the marriage but he saw something in this evil, conniving, maniacal queen that spoke to him and made him consider staying.
There’s this completely empty period of time between the EQ going on her rampage and the end of her story where the two would have married, and it just makes me wonder. Was there a time where she considered changing? Was there a part of her she buried that only he could bring forward? Is that why she still asks Raven about him to this day? Was there a time between stories and wars and rebellions where the two were happy?
We will never know, but I like to think there was. That, for even just the briefest moment, an evil queen and good king got a moment of peace away from their world of extremes to simply exist in the middle.
Harsh, but I accept it I suppose.

“These are my red flags for women:
If she stabs me more than twice.
If she has a concerning amount of ex-husbands who died on their honeymoon, like... [a brief pause for thought] Like four or more.
If Gozer the Gozerian asks me to choose the form of the destructor and then one of my childhood crushes walks through New York City at 300 feet tall, uh, and steps on a church... [takes a breath and pauses for a second] I mean, it’s not the height! It’s not the height. I like a climb. But, like. [another breath] She stepped on a church. Or any building, really, ‘cause. [deep breath followed by a brief pause] Legally they’re not supposed to be able to ask you about that on like your homeowner’s association application, but- but they’ll ask. They’ll look it up.
If she doesn’t exist in the same physical timeline as I am... [several seconds long pause before continuing, sounding distraught] I’m not doing that again.”

I think people would be less suicidal if they were allowed to talk about being suicidal without risk of being sent to the Torture Dungeon
undiagnosed autistic people will be like "I don't get upset when my routine changes though!!" and it's because they've built a set of if-then loops in their head to pick from one of 6 different strict routines and they do get incredibly upset when they're unable to keep to any of the 6 scripts. I'm john normal
This is called a fault tree. You will always know how to act if your fault tree captures all possible scenarios. In NASA Mission Control during mission critical events like landings there are huge binders with fault tree protocols, kind of like choose your own adventure books except you’re not the one making the choices, the universe is making them for you and you’re just trying to keep up.
The engineers who develop fault trees, I am told, often imagine new ways for their precious spacecraft to die (new branches on the fault trees) either while in the shower or lying awake at 3am, because human
Was just thinking about this the other day. Yeah I have a favorite seat on the bus (middle of the bus, near the back doors, slightly elevated, facing forward), but I don’t get upset if someone is already sitting there, I just pick one of my other favorite spots. Then I realized that most people probably don’t have a favorite bus seat, let alone a series of backup favorites.
and if I say I think part of the reason people are obsessed with doing woke gender essentialism and neurodivergent discourse is bc they never developed a personality outside of quirky hogwarts house bullshit but they can’t say they’re a hufflepuff in public without getting booed anymore
Going further: A lot of people are actually intrinsically anchored to classical norms (gender, sexual, etc.) but cannot apply them to themselves because by pure chance they do not belong to them, so they try to reformulate the paradigm but in a queer friendly way.
I feel like not enough people realize that people under enormous strain act really really fucking Weird
If someone is doing things that don't make Sense, try to understand that it is entirely possible that their brain is probably under an enormous weight and fracturing under the pressure. People who have been stabbed will sometimes talk a circle around the fact that they've been stabbed because stress and shock prevent you from recognizing the distress you are in and what you need to do to seek help for it. PTSD will do this also. You will find yourself repeatedly jamming a bag of frozen fruit into the same spot in the freezer where it doesn't fit and keeps falling, over and over and over, focused on nothing but that bag. You will decide that a beanbag chair is 10000% necessary to your life. You will lose your entire shit because you stubbed your toe on a table and that means the whole setup of your furniture is wrong. These are largely harmless examples. People under strain will also hurt themselves and others. Cornered animals bite. And it doesn't heal the bite to go "Hey, are you okay?" But it might get you to an animal that stops biting, so you can start to heal. And before you had an animal that bit, you probably had an animal that kept doing shit you didn't understand as stress signals
Christ, this times 10,000.
The concept of every possible wedding in the EAH cast is inhertly funny because the cast is messy and every character as some weird history with the other member, but the funniest scenario for me is the one between Duchess and Sparrow because they are objectively having the time of their lives (Duchess especially since she started with very poor romantic prospects. Plus at this point in the story, I think Sparrow has managed to regain his noble titles so he can give her a life of a real princess) but around them, madness is happening! But like:
Faybelle arriving super late to the party because, well, she's Faybelle. She crash at the wedding Dark Fairy style and everyone is not scare but annoyed.
Ramona decided to invite Justine as her plus one: they spent the evening arguing because joke filrt with a swan maid.
Realistically, the ceremony is in the enchanted forest, which means that Cerise and Badwolf (who are relatives of the groom, remember) are hyper-stimulated by everything.
Lizzie and Daring having this weird Party4You moment where they reminisce about the good old days, even tho Daring is probably married at this point (Bonus points because they got together and broke up because of Sparrow and Duchess)
All their friends in general will have a "I remember when you two almost ruined our lives" speech, especially Ashlynn and Hunter. Raven being like "It's so nice when two horrible people find love. Anyway, I'm here to sing, as long as they pay me"
Competitive parental neglect table with Marian, Robin, King Swan* and Odile (who is supposedly Duchess's stepmother) where they were sent for etiquette and spend their time competing to see who was the most deadbeat parent.
Granny Swan and Aunt Heather hate each other, but hate those four more so in the end they team up.
Apple is not invited because why would she
There is something sooo deeply American going on with Seattle Children’s Hospital that I think would brick the minds of everyone outside of the United States.
The CHILDRENS hospital has to restrict helipad landings because of noise complaints from the wealthy home owners living next to it. Only the most urgent patients can land directly at the hospital. While the other kids have to land a mile away and are taken to the hospital via ambulance. Which is an unnecessary risk to the child’s life and also makes the families pay for the helicopter AND ambulance.
The hospital says some limits on helipad access add pressure when children need lifesaving care.
Apparently this has been going on for decades and is only getting traction because a pilot complained on Twitter.
