“i knew you, leaving like a father, running like water” is such a beautiful piece of imagery and it needs to be said. i don’t care that it’s a taylor swift lyric, it’s an absolute masterpiece. the way she dove into this is amazing, connecting something emotional that happens to too many people, and water, which already slips through your fingers, to a lover is something so fascinating yet poetic.
the only thing that's keeping me going is glimpses of a perfect future. reading a worn book on the train. cuddling with a cat in my own apartment. the steam curling from the cup of coffee i get everyday on the way to work. the smell of my local used bookshop. sometimes, it's ok to let the small things guide you forward.
can we normalize loving classic literature but still devouring those trashy YA books and finding quotes and inspiration from them? like, i can love shakespeare but also six of crows and not be belittled or ridiculed for appreciating all kinds of literature? additionally, it’s probably only frowned upon because it’s what teenage girls like and, let’s be honest, that’s just fucked up.
JUST TO CLARIFY: i’m not saying YA is trashy, i’m saying that that’s the stereotype that comes with the genre

Why High School Musical 3: Senior Year is the best High School Musical movie
Disclaimer: I love these movies with all my heart so like, even if I say bad things, I still love them all. I just love hsm3 the most :)
The answer to this is simple. First of all, the first movie is just bland and boring. Yes, it’s an introduction to the characters and I must admit, there are some bangers, but the stakes aren’t high enough and there’s many weird and confusing parts such as: why does everyone go to callbacks? A good theatre teacher, like I’m sure Ms. Darbus is, would never let that happen. And again, stakes are too low. Like I’d understand if this was the actual show but like, just for callbacls? That ain’t how it goes. Plus, neither Troy or Gabriella care that much.
Where to begin with High School Musical 2. Let’s begin with this definitly being the most problematic of them all. Sharpay is a big issue in this one and the tiny little redemption arc at the end doesn’t help. Sharpay tries to manipulate Troy into being in a relationship with her, even though he clearly says he is not interested. Furthermore, she uses his future as blackmail, knowing he can’t say no because, well, it’s college and scholarships, wouldn’t you do the same? There are definitly good songs in this one, but Sharpay assults Troy and manipulates him, so this is definitly not the best.
HOWEVER. High School Musical 3 is a masterpiece. They show the brotherly bond between Chad and Troy so much and it balanced out the amount of cutesy love (not that I’m complaining) between Troy and Gabriella. The stakes are as high as they can be, for high schoolers, and relatable too. Not knowing what you want to do for the rest of your life? That’s pretty big. Additionally, the higher budget really shows and really improves it. The musical numbers are better, the sets and costumes. It’s so full of bops. Like Scream is way better than Bet On It and also Walk Away is an underrated legend of a song. It’s the perfect goodbyes for the characters we know and love. It has a superior everything compared to HSM and HSM2.

I can't believe Be More Chill is closing. This is a musical that clawed its way up to Broadway and was brought up by the fans and the people involved. It is inclusive and creative and one of the few musicals I truly resonated with. Meanwhile, The Prom is closing on the same date, which is another show with LGBTQ characters and inclusivity. It just pisses me off that Tootsie is staying, despite the homophobic and transphobic undertones. This is also a nod to the Tonys which, though I think Hadestown is an amazing show, really did not highlight both of these amazing, inclusive shows.
In conclusion, I am upsetti.
This is the only day of the year where the falsettos fandom emerges from their cave, starving for an Andrew Rannells post
