THE GIST
The fact that Vin’s parents divorced when he was only five years old never affected him much. Unlike other families, both his mother and father were careful to give Vincent the attention he needed, making him understand that sometimes relationships didn’t work out and it wasn’t his fault. He saw both his parents often, even though he lived with his mother in Arizona.
He had a good childhood, filled with memories of sunshine and his mother’s amazing apple pie. In high school, he never joined any sports team even though he was very active and enjoyed working out. Vincent was very outspoken when it came to his beliefs, he still is to this day, and always had an itch to try to make the world a better place, even though he’s aware that’s a long and hard path.
When he was about fifteen, he felt a change. Vincent could suddenly hear things he couldn’t explain and he wasn’t aware he was the only one hearing them at first, he thought it was normal. But after months and years of having the occasional familiar tingle down his spine, it hit him that it was something different. He never told anyone, not even his mother, about this strange “ability”.
Vincent didn’t go to college right after finishing high school because he couldn’t decide what he wanted to pursue. It was after walking back home by himself one night that his faith took a turn. Had he not been at the right place at the right time that night, an innocent girl would have suffered horrors. Thankfully, he was and besides realizing he was good at helping people, the girl and him had a two year relationship that eventually ended on good terms.
Law enforcement was the way. Vincent graduated from college and got signed to a police department almost immediately. The problem was it was really far from his hometown. Elkridge Hollow meant a new chapter in his life and at the age of twenty-nine, he moved to work there as a homicide detective. It wasn’t the most exciting place to work at because barely anything ever happened but the people were good and he quickly built a life there. That is until all the murders started. Vincent knew it was his calling, this was on him but he couldn’t possibly do it alone. Detective Gallegos came as a pleasant surprise, the two clashed at first but quickly came to terms and now work as a team to try to keep Elkridge Hollow safe from... whoever or whatever is hurting innocents.
