Born To Make History (PruCan)
Gilbert opened the door to Matthew’s cabin and announced his presence as he took off his shoes and laid them neatly on the shoe rack. Kuma emerged from the living room and grunted as Gilbert patted his big forehead. “Hey there Pooh bear! Nice to see ya too,” he grinned as the polar bear licked his face. Matthew appeared in the living room doorway. “Hey Gil, thanks for coming over on such short notice,” he said as he sat back down on his favorite rocking chair. “No problemo, you sounded pretty urgent over text, you okay?” he queried as he flopped down onto the couch, spread eagle style.
“Okay, so don’t make fun of me but-” Matthew turns on his tv to show “Yuri on Ice” playing. “but I’ve been hooked on watching this. Japan told me it was a really huge new show and, since you like anime already, I thought you’d like to watch it...with me.” he finished sheepishly. Gilbert raised an eyebrow as he stared at the main title screen. He scratched his head and groaned in protest. “DUUDE this looks....ehh...” He shook his head. Matthew nodded in understanding, “Just watch one episode. I swear, you won’t regret it! Heck, I’ll even crack open a couple beers for us.” At that, Gilbert lit up. “Fuck yeah Broski, now you’re talking!”
Gilbert: Did fucking Russia voice that Viktor guy????
Gilbert: Did I just fucking witness that guy’s ass????????
Gilbert: Bro, this show is uber gay
Matt: Gay in a good way, right?
Gilbert: Did that Swiss guy just--”
Gilbert: Well finally! Shit, I thought they’d never kiss. Like, just fuck already!
Gilbert: Woah, shit’s getting intense.
Matt: I know, I hope Makkachin is okay.
Gilbert: Yeah. It’d really suck if that poodle died.
Gilbert: OH MY GOD! THEY DID THE THING
Gilbert: THE GAY IS OFF THE CHARTS!
Gilbert: Man, there is a lot of crying in this episode.
Matt: Performing your routine to the best of your ability must be very emotional
Gilbert: I guess...but, why all the crying?
Matt: At least Yuri finally won his gold medal.
Gilbert: True, good for him.
Matthew stretches as Gilbert yawns and cracks his knuckles. Kuma nudges Matthew, a signal that he needed to go outside. Matthew rises from his rocking chair and pats Kuma. “Gil, you wanna come outside with us? It’ll only be for a bit.” Gilbert crushes a beer can on his forehead and burps. “Sure, I needed a smoke anyway,” As the two donned their coats and shoes, Kuma pushed the front door open and lumbered out into the trees. The two nations walked lazily after the bear, only to find that Kuma had led them to an area with a frozen lake. “Huh. The lakes haven’t completely melted have they?” gilbert asked, taking a drag from his cigarette and blowing out a cloud of smoke. “Yeah, it’s normal for this time of the year. In America’s place, the lakes tend to melt a little more quickly than mine during Spring.” A few minutes of silence passed between the two as they stared out over the frozen lake with Kuma rolling around on the shore.
Gilbert turns to Matthew as he stomped his cigarette out. “You thinkin’ what I’m thinkin’?” he asked with a sly grin. Matthew returns Gilbert’s smirk with a sly grin of his own, “Fuck yeah.”
