APIQ uses the term “Queer” as an umbrella term for anyone that identifies as LGBTQIA+, so yes, pansexual is an identity that we do recognize and serve! We use the + as well to signify that there are many identities that are not usually represented in only LGBT or LGBTQIA. APIQ also recognizes that some folx are not comfortable labeling themselves as “queer” in regards to either their sexuality, sexual orientation and/or gender and we validate that as well.
When we say API, we mean anyone that self-identifies with the Asian and/or Pacific Islander identity. Whatever that may mean to someone is valid and we do not want to dictate who or what can be categorized as Asian and/or Pacific Islander.
REMINDER TO EVERYONE! While our programming is catered specifically toward the intersection of the API and LGBTQIA+ identities, we are always open to any and everyone from varying backgrounds or identities to come and learn at our open meetings! Please keep an open mind as we create a safer space for folx in a society where we have been hxstorically reprimanded and silenced. <3

You don’t have to come out
You don’t have to feel pressured to come out
Being in the closet is not shameful
It’s about protecting yourself
If coming out will make you exposed to discrimination, rejection, harassment or violence, you are perfectly justified in staying closeted
If coming out day makes you feel like being closeted makes you a lesser person, don’t
It’s about survival and self-preservation
And you are awesome and fabulous no matter how few or how many people in your life know about your identity

Hello! We have received many asks of this same question.
We have finalized our meeting times as Thursdays 7-9pm in Wellman Hall. Classroom number is TBA.
HOWEVER, our first “meeting” will be a picnic in the park on October 8 in Downtown Central Park from 6-8pm! Please come out, it is potluck style! :D
