We, the Students of Diverse of Affiliations (SoDA), stand in solidarity with the Black students and staff of UC Davis. On February 15, 2016 a hate crime was committed by three white men against a black female student on campus. As this situation comes to us, we increasingly become aware of the anti-Blackness that continues to get perpetuated on our campus. The #BlackUnderAttack movement doesn't just speak to the recent incidents of hate crimes against the Black Community on campus but to the hate crimes, racism, and discrimination that continues to hurt this community. In history anti-Blackness has brought upon political, economic, and social issues that deteriorates and effects the Black community as a whole from achieving basic human rights. As a program consisted of organizations that share the same mission of effective collaboration and social justice, we stand in full support of the demands. To make sure that both students and staff of the Black community at UC Davis feel safe, SoDa will continue to advance social justice education and awareness platforms so that Black students and staff at UC Davis will not feel threatened or under attack from achieving greatness and excellence on our campus.
