Refrigerator magnets of Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) from Parks & Recreation and Dalton (Patrick Swayze) from Roadhouse that I made for two of my wife's friends. 1350 and 1410 Artkal mini beads, respectively.

BMO in Artkal mini beads. Got inspired to make this after the Adventure Time finale (best series finale ever!). Didn't make a pattern for this like I do with my portraits, I just sort of winged it. But it turned out exactly how I wanted.

I don't love how it looks up close, but it looks really good from a few feet away. Still, there are some things I wish I'd done differently. I should've made it, like, a lot bigger and included the headdress in the design. And I definitely should have simplified the colors in her face, rather than trying to duplicate the colors from the original when I didn't have exact matches for a lot of those colors. Ugh. This thing took fucking forever because I spent so much time staring at pixels and trying to figure which color beads they were closest to.

Janelle Monáe portrait, from the cover of The ArchAndroid (2010). Working in full color, as opposed to working in monochrome, IS SUCH A MONUMENTAL PAIN IN THE ASS. The colors in the reference pic never quite match the colors of the beads, and you spend so much time looking back and forth, asking yourself if that pixel is closer to this orange or that orange. And then you end up having to redo whole sections because the color you thought would work didn't. Just getting set up to work is discouraging, because you have to get like fifty colors out instead of 10 or 15. And no matter how many you get out, you always have to go back into the bin for a few you missed. Sigh. But, I think it'll look pretty awesome when it's done.

Well, I got it ironed. I had never ironed anything this big, and it was as much of a pain in the ass as I had expected. You can clearly see where I ran out of my old bag of white beads and had to start on a new one, because the colors don’t quite match. I love that Artkal makes like a zillion colors of beads, but their quality control leaves something to be desired. Sigh. But still, I’m not letting it bother me. I’m happy with how it turned out.

Marion Cotillard in blue, all finished. 5418 Artkal mini beads.

The surface flaws are due to my ironing it three separate times (I was way out of practice and using my new iron for the first time). There was a time when i would have been really upset by that, but I dunno, I actually kinda like it. It has a sort of distressed look. At any rate, it’s not noticeable from more than a few feet away.

I may eventually get around to listing this in my Etsy store, but I really don’t want to get rid of it, so that will probably be reflected in the price.

Mostly posting this so peole know I’m still alive. I started this like two months ago and then ran into the brick wall known as depression, and when that happens, my interest in creative endeavors is the first thing to go. I even had a commission (politely) withdrawn because I couldn't get my shit together to work on it.

However, I did manage to resume work on this a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, I’m about to run out of light blue, so it’ll probably still be a while before it’s complete.

The shading on her nose definitely needs some tweaking.

Well, @madnanc , I don’t have a Delphine Funko, but here it is next to my wife’s Nebula Funko, along with a U.S. quarter and a regular ballpoint pen.

The exact measurements are 10 13/16 by 9 inches, or 27.5 x 22.7 cm.

Wait…did they make a Delphine Funko?
