All in all, the event ran extremely smoothly and successfully. At the beginning, when a group of us met outside Gardenia in preparation to go to Veteran, a few people were adamant and afraid of putting on masks. Nonetheless, everyone was more than excited to pamper themselves after a long day at school, and eager to learn more about how to properly care for their skin.
After we arrived at the venue, no time was lost. We all followed the simple four-step routine - 1: Exfoliate skin with Apricot Scrub, 2: Put on a cleansing mask (we had mint cleansing mask, volcanic cleansing mask, Proactiv cleansing mask, and even a charcoal deep-cleansing mask for 15 minutes, 3: Wash mask off, and put on hydrating mask to replenish skin moisture (we had algae hydrating mask, and a Neutrogena moisture mask), 4: Wash off mask, tone face, and moisturize face.
Whilst we had our masks on, we all exchanged beauty tips, and how to care for our skin. We shared our own daily regimes, and what to avoid during breakouts. After all, we are college students who deal with regular stress, so would need the practical advice.
Candles were lit, and chicken nuggets, chocolate, Percy Pig gummies, jumbo Pocky sticks, and apple juice were served to people that came to the event, and there was free TV (Disney Channel) playing as well. Even Mariah Carey's new single, "The Art of Letting Go" was playing for a moment. The atmosphere was warm and homey, with the rose scent of candle and the delicate sound of conversations gently pervading the air.
It would not be far-fetched to say on behalf of everyone that we had a lot of fun that night, and that we were able to reach inner peace whilst finding outer beauty. Everyone needs to be pampered once in a while to reinvigorate ourselves to tackle our challenging daily lives, and that is what we did. Mariah Carey would be proud of us all!
