Kay so I’ve just come across the theory that Membrane is secretly an Irken scientist who was banished, and Dib and Gaz are his test tube babies... There’s one big complaint I have, despite loving this theory. If the professor is actually Irken, then he’s completely abusing his power over Dib. He’s not only telling Dib he’s crazy, insane. HE LITERALLY SENDS DIB TO AN ASYLUM MULTIPLE TIMES. The Prof. is far from a “loving parent” but even Irkens seem to have a basic level of decency. And I know that Jhonen has a habit of writing characters who are not healthy or nice because the world isn’t healthy or nice, but it still bothers me.
