Re-writes of the ACGAS CS06
My notes and edits:
I'd leave all the Charlotte-Tris scenes as they were. The Tris-Maggie scene is good too.
I'd shorten the Tricki-woo treatment scenes to James telling Mrs. P about how he's against the shots from the very beginning. She stays to help the nativity scene, and James tells her she's like family which she loves hearing (and despite the era's class system ideas where she would never have gone to the vet's office and he would have visited her house to give her the truth in the diagnosis and no false hope.)
Dorothy arrives and Aud is thrilled. They sit in the kitchen to catch up. We learn that that Dot survived Malta and what happened there, plus a bit of even happier news, Dot has married. She has come to the area to see her sister and plans to bring her new husband around to meet everyone once they've settled in the area. He's in London but coming the next day or so to celebrate the holidays.
Audrey tells Dot she's happy to be home for the holidays. Aud mentions that although she is thrilled with Edward's new family, she had missed Skeldale during those years away. And she says she want to win the turkey so they can have a proper meal to celebrate as a family.
Siegfried walks in to see Dot and his thrilled when the Dot and Aud catch him up on Dot's happy news. He has to excuse himself because of Hilda. Tells the Dot he'll drop her off at her sister's after the Hilda visit. Besides he thinks Dot will like Mrs. Stokes because Mrs. Stokes had once been on the stage and likes to tell those stories. That's because Siegfried knows his clients. What does he say about caring for the owners or understanding them so he can be a better vet to the animals? Both S and A can kiss Dot on the cheek to congratulate her. (Look, Christmas kisses!) They talk about the joy of marriage and S gives his Plato talk about searching for other halves and that it's funny that Dot had to go to Malta to find her other half. Aud says, "Sometime your other half is right under your nose, and you could miss it."
At the nativity dress rehearsal, Siegfried some out to help because he's happy everyone is there for the holiday. It's been a long time since the house has been full. He comes in to ask James how he can help, notices Mabel's rabbit, and takes the rabbit to care for it because he loves children and animals even if he is a little quirky sometimes. He knows his strength is in caring for the animals and he wants James's nativity play to go well, and he's even happy Helen is back at Skeldale even if she's sick. And since Helen is sick, Siegfried is a tiny bit more helpful. (I don't know what S wrote to H in his letter, but I bet it wasn't anything to do with yelling in front of small children.)
S fixes Hilda's barn door and notices that Hilda is poorly. He leaves the Mrs. Stokes and Dot to chat while he brews up more tea with a spot of brandy. Hilda lives and Siegfried wonders if it really was the brandy that did the trick. He might have to look into other ways to treat animals in the New Year -- put those in S07.
As Dot and S are walking to the car making small chat, Dot mentions that Audrey had missed Christmas at Skeldale. S says, "She said that?"
Back home, the nativity scene, plus the darts. Team Skeldale wins the turkey. Everyone is happy and hugs. Siegfried mentions to Aud that he doesn't like when she leaves, that he doesn't like the separation if he's honest. Aud tells Siegfried she would like for him to drive her to see Edward and to meet Edward's family. There is a hotel nearby where Tris and James stayed. Siegfried asks if people will talk, Tris says let them because life is short, Charlotte says it's a new time, James says he can watch the practice for a few days even with Helen feeling poorly, Aud says it will be a short visit and if Siegfried has to come back early, she'll come back on the train soon after so they'll have the New Year in Skeldale.
It's not perfect, but I think it jives with the rest of S06.
