Uhh, ive been catching up on the Heros of Olympus series, I finished the house of hades bot that long ago and enjoyed it, now I just need to get the next book for the series
this is one huge umbrella flaw that lends itself to minor but equally serious flaws such as lack of sense of agency -> no carpe diem when it comes to people but shit ton of carpe diem when it comes to, idk... DEATH, miscommunication, etc. etc.
it's very in character for them, considering how keith has a tendency to run away from his problems (suppression) and lance has a tendency to ignore his problems (repression). this is why (as much as i would've loved klance to be canon) canon kind of make sense; they long for each other, care about each other, probably love each other but they don't do anything about it bc lance is in denial (that he may be not straight and/or keith has an interest in him at all) and keith doesn't want to be in the way of lance and allura.
but at the same time.... canon makes NO sense assuming that they would've emotionally matured over the span of 3+ years (idk the timeline of vld but i'm assuming shit ton of time has passed) where they would've talked it out like the adults they are and make the slow burn END.
basically what i'm saying is that canon where lance ends up with allura even though he loves keith makes sense if he was still 17 but considering that he's probably 20+ in s8, canon doesn't make sense and wow fuck dr**mworks

keith: inability to trust others
this goes in two ways i think. first, he doesn't trust others to play their role or cooperate in a team which leads him to try to do everything himself. this will be fatal because one person can do so many things at once yk?? it makes sense given his upbringings and he does tone it down a bit later on but pulling this shit and not learning from it can kill him of either sleep deprivation or going on dangerous missions alone.
secondly, which i observed later in the series, he doesn't trust others to take care of themselves. now, he loves team voltron to fricken PIECES and will not let anyone hurt them, which causes him to be the self sacrificing bitch he is which could kill him?@?# people joke about his hero complex but itâs definitely not that, he cannot care less about receiving praise
lance: not listening to himself/not taking himself seriously
maybe iâm projecting here a lil and psychoanalyzing myself but his role in the team is âjokesterâ/âclass clown,â if you will. itâs a role he is proud of but at some point, he realizes that he needs to fit this role to lift everyone else up in the middle of a intergalactic war. this causes him to ignore his feelings and keep it in check.Â
he lived in a house full of people, iâm sure that heâs no stranger to this. he has a mask that he doesnât remember putting on and itâs all that heâs known. this means that he doesnât trust himself, no less anyone else, to deal with his true feelings/emotions. this can literally drive someone insane, heâs going to eventually snap and do something reckless.
itâs like pushing/shoving your emotions into a suitcase because you donât have time for that and people need you to be the happy-go-lucky guy in these depressing times. now this suitcase is bound to spring open and spill your inner emotions. heâs slowly killing himself and his relationships with other people...
