(this is a day old and from my notes app but it made good points I think.)
Why I donāt believe Fossil is going to die in several hours:
My third favorite Objectified Comic character often fluctuates, but Fossil is often in that spot. Despite this, I am not scared about Fossil dying in Downer.
A primary point in Fossilās story is that she is a ādefectā and she resents this about herself. Sheās dedicated her life to fixing terminal errors that caused this, but she reveals she has not made much progress in āOut of Mindā. Being a defect is a problem because having both hominid and bestial parts, according to the original QnA video, causes your organspace to be severely messed up (this is to be expected anyway.) It explains this can shorten the lifespan of an object. This same QnA also mentions that fossil is much older than we think (57).Ā Ā We can assume Fossil is getting close to the end of their life, and they know this, considering theyāve devoted their life to studying this.
I doubt Fossil is going to die to a parasite. I think sheāll die of some internal issue, which will be a turning point for PK as a character to lock in on figuring out Organspace.
I think it would be a waste to not give Fossil an episode to be vulnerable and talk about this. I feel like itās important to understand why they are trying to maximize efficiency and arenāt keen on taking breaks (sheās running out of time) and why she thinks very ābig pictureā instead of thinking about the effects of her actions individuals like Painkiller does (Iām thinking about the killing Carrot thing here but I feel like we see this) She acts like she doesnāt acre about anyone, but sheās clearly hurt when she feels like she loses her relationship with Push when Push confessed romantic feelings that Fossil couldnāt reciprocate. It explains their awe and annoyance with Carrot for being lair back and not constantly feeling like he needs to devote every moment to making sure he has made an impact on the world, and despite this he seems to have gotten farther in his own fields than Fossil feels like she has.
ALSO I think the association between Fossil and friends (the head scientists and pals) and the apocalypse is very obvious at this point, though we donāt know exactly what the connection is. We do know the parasitesā whole thing is āmessed up organspaceā and I think Fossil needs to bring up her research on this subject that was potentially used by the apocalypse initiator to crate the parasites and their organspace ruining abilities.
So yeah Fossil will be fine for now most likely hopefully please.
