Every time I read or watch something pride and prejudice, I have to be reminded of people's hatred toward Lydia :(. She was my favorite when I first read the book, and now I just feel so bad for her cause she was 15, assaulted, and trapped in a marriage with a terrible man. Even in adaptations that go out of their way to recontextualize other characters like Collins or Wickham (yuck), they portray Lydia as ungrateful and annoying. Like she's a child, and in my opinion, funnier than the rest of that flop family

They start working towards the same goal in book one...and Damen is just not enough of a hater. He definitely is abused enough that they should be enemies, but he's not putting in the effort
