Apps have the ability to connect us to help and professionals.
Lonely Londoners and homesick visitors will soon be able to break bread together by using a new app. Three tech entrepreneurs have built an anti-Tinder meet-up app to help make friends in post-Brexit London. Meet’n’Eat encourages people who want to get to know others, or who speak the same language, to eat together. They are matched by using GPS location data alongside filters such as age, food choice, time and date.
Apps have the ability to bring people together when might have never been connected in this way without the app.

7 Apps for Studying and Time Management
Companion video: link
►Memorigi
Android [FREE]: link iPhone: [NOT AVAILABLE] Similar app: Wunderlist [FREE] link
Memorigi is a really easy to use time management app where you can log in all of your tasks for the day, week and month. You can use a color code to track your tasks by theme or by subject so you can understand what your workload will be for the next few days. I really like this app’s simple layout and the fact that you can chose between different views, namely between a daily view or a three-days view. It also lets you set an alarm to remind you that your tasks and events are coming up. Other similar apps to consider are Google Calendar and Evernote.
►Duolingo Android [FREE]: link iPhone [FREE]: link
Duolingo is an app that lets you learn languages through an array of mini games and exercises that you can complete daily, increasing your fluency and mastery step by step. Each language comes with dozens of different themed levels that teach you different aspects of vocabulary and grammar so you can build up your knowledge on that language. Each level recycles what you’ve learned in past levels to make sure that you still remember that you have learned before. You can also use the training icon to get a personalized lesson with your weakest words, so you can really tackle whatever you are having a difficult time with, before moving on with the learning process. I also enjoy the fact that the levels are short and you aren’t required to speak or listen, so it’s the perfect way to spend some idle time during commuting to school.
►Forest: Android [FREE]: link iPhone [1,99$]: link
Another app that I always talk about is Forest, and for me it’s the best way to use the Pomodoro Technique whilst having a true visual experience of your productivity levels. The concept is quite simple: for each block of time you spend studying, you plant a virtual tree. While that tree grows, you cannot use other app in your phone, less you get distracted. When the timer reaches zero, you will have planted a tree in your forest. The more trees you have, the more productive you were during that day.
►Loop - Habit Tracker Android [FREE]: link iPhone: NOT AVAILABLE HabitBull [FREE], similar app: link
Habits is an habit tracker app that lets you follow up on those small daily tasks that we sometimes forget, like drinking enough water, taking medication or taking a walk outside. It’s very simple to use – all you have to do is insert which tasks you want to track and just press the small cross to mark it for that day. As time goes by, you will build a graphic that tells you how many times you’ve forgotten certain tasks and where you should improve. I usually do this by hand in my bullet journal but I think that tracking your habits with an app should please everyone who prefers to manage their time with their phone and doesn’t like to carry a notebook around.
►SaveMyTime Android [FREE]: link iPhone: NOT AVAILABLE Similar app: link
Still on the time management theme, I think that everyone should try at least once in their life to really understand how they are spending their time. A time wheel lets you do this – you basically input how you have been spending your time during the day, with transportation, sleeping, eating, studying and taking classes and you will be baffled by how little time you can actually spend at your own will. This app lets you do exactly this, you just insert the amount of time you have been doing something and it will build a time wheel for you, so you can reflect where you have been wasting your time and re-organize your schedule. I think this is a great challenge to keep up with during a week and just reflect on how you are actually living your life. Basically, it sets a tracking time and when you unlock your phone, the app will ask you what you have been doing for the past fifteen minutes so you can build your time wheel gradually during the day without even noticing it.
►Quizlet Android [FREE]: link iPhone [FREE]: link
A great app to save paper, ink and time is quizlet. It basically replaces all of your physical flash cards and lets you keep entire sets of questions and answers in your phone under your personal account. You can then export these to your computer and share them with your friends. I think this is an amazing app for anyone who relies on definition based classes and tests and is something great to use on idle times or when you need to study but only have your phone around. It has tons of different ways to test your knowledge on a subject and it can even read your cards out loud as if you were being questioned by your professor.
►Timetable Android [FREE]: link iPhone [NOT AVAILABLE] Similar app: Class Timetable [FREE]: link
Finally, and this is one of my favorites, there is a widget timetable app so you can place your school timetable in your homescreen and never skip a class again. I usually never know where I am going to have class and sometimes it’s not really useful to take out your planner and look at your schedule so having it right on your homescreen is really useful.
You can insert all data related to your class in this widget, like the name of the class, the location, participants and total duration. You can always assign a color to a certain class. Afterwards, you just tap the screen to assign your class to a certain timeblock and there you have it.

apps i couldn't live without
i recently got a new phone with way more storage space, which led to me actually getting more than the bare necessities as far as apps go. now that i have em, i can’t live without em.
1. reminders this one comes automatic on iphones, but what i do now is i typed a different motivational quote in for each day to alert me at the same time every day. a little dose of easy inspiration at 6:20am :)
2. google drive i do a lot of group projects and this is essential to share work if i need it right then. it’s also great if you’re running out of storage space on your phone. the app doesn’t take up more storage on your device no matter how much you put into it, so if you have pictures you don’t want to delete but don’t look at very often, you can sync them to your drive then delete them off your phone.
3. sworkit i haven’t played with this one too much yet, but it’s an exercise app with difficulty ranges from beginner to advanced, and with different types of exercise (including yoga and stretches.) it’s super easy to use and to understand, and perfect for wake-me-up breaks at your desk.
4. youtube john green crash courses. nuff said.
5. quizlet just use it. oh, just go use it.
6. google translate yeah, there’s an app for that. can’t tell you how many times i’ve been in a pinch just before spanish class and needing to do my translation work. problem solved right here.
7. duolingo on the same note, this app. it can get a little annoying if you keep your notifications on, but it’s fun and easy, and has a variety of languages. i use it not only to brush up on spanish skills for school, but also because i’m going to italy, france, and poland this summer and i speak none of those languages. yet.
8. cnn automatic notifications on breaking news, and very useful if you, say, forgot you have to give a speech analyzing the results the iowa caucus has on the gop next period, or a timed write on how the fbi ran a child porn site to catch criminals in an hour. (both of which have happened to me.)
9. powerschool if your school uses it, you can check your grades and attendance records in real time!
10. dictionary.com super helpful when you come across a word in your readings you don’t know, or need to double-check a word’s connotation before you use it in an essay. it doubles as a thesaurus, if you need that, too. (also, THE GAME)
Literal apps that you couldn’t live without because they help you simplify your life.
“The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.”
— Confucius
Here are a list of 10, free apps that can help you organize, study, and strive for higher grades
1.) Focus Now This app has really helped me focus and stay on task. It helps eliminate your bad habits and encourages you to develop desirable habits instead. By using a timer, this app forces you to put down your phone in the allotted time you’ve requested while you plant a plant/tree in your farm. If you go on your phone, you kill the plant. This habit building game sounds slightly cheesy, but it really does help and I definitely recommend this app. I also know Focus Timer is a good habit developer app as well that tracks your progress and the hours you have spent studying.
2.) Maths Alarm Clock If you are not a morning person like me and you have a fairly difficult time to get up, this app is perfect. With its super annoying alarm, it demands you to do a math problem in order for the alarm to stop. This way, your brain wakes up and plus you get extra practice at math! You will hate this app in the morning, but it gets the job done and that’s what matters.
3.) Calculator # I always forget my calculator in my locker and this app has saved my math grade. It provides users a no cost, scientific calculator. You honestly cant go wrong with this.
4.) Flashcards+ Being unorganized ( in the process of fixing this ), I tend to lose my flashcards. When upcoming, cumulative tests come up, this bites me in the butt. This app allows people to create flashcard decks and allows you to customize them by inserting pictures which can really help visual learners. Plus, typing out flashcards take little amount of time in comparison to hand writing them. However, if you find that you learn more effectively by writing down things, then stick with that! Just make sure you don’t lose the notecards.
5.) Quizlet This app is slightly similar to Flashcards +1, but it introduces more features.Unlike Flashcards+, you can play games on the topic you are studying, making it more fun to learn. You can also share and find notecards with your peers.
6.) Khan Academy The founder of Khan Academy literally deserves 3841481 medals. With thousands of videos dedicated towards chemistry, math, biology, physics, etc, Khan Academy has helped me understand so many concepts that I could not grasp. He explains the concepts in great detail while making it easy to understand and follow and I can’t even put to words on how much I love Khan Academy.
7.) Photo Math If you’re stumped on a math problem in your textbook, take a picture of the math problem you are stuck on and Photo Math will grant you a step by step guidance on how to get the answer. DON’T JUST COPY DOWN THE STEPS, ACTUALLY KNOW WHY AND HOW THEY GOT TO THE ANSWER. If you just copy it down, then you did not learn anything and you’ll get the problem wrong again when it appears on a test and that is not very ideal.
8.) Gojimo Gojimp provides thousands of practice AP tests, SAT Test Preps, ACT Test Preps, and tons of other tests for students! AND ITS FREE!! The app supplies free quizzes that give detailed, thorough explanations too.
9.) Vocabulary Builder from Magoosh If you’re interested in expanding your vocabulary, you will love this app. Vocabulary Builder is great for preparing for the SATS!
10.) Todoist If you’re in desperate need for a planner, then Todoist is gonna be a lifesaver for you. Todoist encourages users to manage their tasks with their simple working app. It’s perfect for organization and increasing productivity. c:
