the light shines bright into his room -- too bright, makes him wanna turn over, curl up into a ball and go straight back to sleep. it’s been a hell of a week - hell of a few years, actually. time has flown by so quickly that it almost doesn’t seem real. life has been a blur, day in and day out it’s all the same. get up, go to work, come home and crash. rinse and fuckin’ repeat.
takeshi groans, blindly fumbles around for his phone - eyes still shut because if he opens them, then that’s committing to starting his day and he isn’t ready for that - not just yet. just a few more minutes, hours, days--
“fuckin’ work, don’ wanna go--”
he checks the time on his phone, finally opening his eyes just the tiniest bit, as if he’s trying to trick himself into staying asleep.
5.34am.
takeshi throws the mound of blankets back and sits up, rubbing his face and yawning. probably shoulda gone t’ bed earlier. he thinks for a second, knowing damn well that he’s gonna stay up late again tonight.
his-alarm goes off, filling the empty silence that had previously been filling the room and, damn it - how th’ fuck do you turn this thing off--?
“okay okay, gettin’ up -- fuck.” he stands and stretches, looks in the mirror and stares at his own tired face, barely recognizing the man in the mirror. “let’s do this.”
