Had frequent meltdowns as a child, which he is always reminded of when he transforms into the Hulk. This is a part of what makes being the Hulk such a negative experience for him.
Had a lot of difficulty processing and controlling his emotions as a child, so he had constant practice keeping his emotions under control even before he became the Hulk. This allows him to more easily keep his anger constantly under check.
Special interest in physics. Rarely infodumps, because heâs used to people not understanding what heâs talking about when he does.
Hyperempathic. Wants to use his skills to help people. Feels intense pain for everyone he hurts when Hulking out, another reason he hates being the Hulk.
Generally prefers to be alone. Social interaction takes spoons, and it already takes a lot of spoons to keep the Hulk under control.
Likes to work in a quiet, solitary environment, free from negative sensory experiences. Even when Tony invites him to come work in Stark Tower (later Avengers Tower), he needs his own lab where he can control his own sensory experience and be by himself most of the time. Usually canât deal with the loud music Tony plays while working. Only works cooperatively when he has the spoons for it.
Partially nonverbal. Prefers to be nonverbal, actually, but speaks because itâs more convenient and easier than trying to communicate nonverbally. The exceptions to this rule are Clint and Natasha, who know American Sign Language (Clint because heâs deaf and Natasha because sheâs been friends with Clint for so long). Bruce will often use ASL around the 2 of them.
When he does speak, heâs quiet and concise. Talking loudly uses up spoons. And he prefers to communicate what heâs trying to get across in the least amount of words possible, so he doesnât go into any unnecessary explanation or waste time on small talk.
