THE LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM (1988) directed by KEN RUSSELL
day one insect roundup. hopefully will see an actual elephant beetle and not just random bits of wing and carapace
Made it to France, baby slept the first half of the night, but I've now been up with her from 2-4am and now I'm wide awake too. Anyway! She's down now, and was a star passenger on our flights to get here. I think I'm gonna watch the sunrise and then raid my mum's fridge for some delicious odorous cheese to have on bread for breakfast with some abricots and a lovely cup of coffee
hello delirious past self, you've finally slept and feel like a person again!

Liz Toohey-Wiese, 2024.
"A sign installed in the largest wildfire burn I’ve ever seen, along the BC/YK border. Borrowing the aesthetics of BC Recreation Site signs, once again pointing to the overlaps of outdoor recreation, resource extraction, and the consequences of the climate crisis. Most recreation sites in BC exist along previously built logging and mining roads.
“Forced into a great and difficult transformation” was a line I heard in a lecture on Buddhist philosophy I was listening to on my drive up north. But it became another mantra I thought about while living in a place that’s been utterly transformed by resource extraction over the past century, and as I thought about the burnt landscapes I drove through."

head in the clouds while the baby sleeps on me. I hadn't thought about Clarice Cliff's work in years and years, have this vivid memory of being in second form of primary school and we all had to make an interpretation of a teapot by Cliff in those chalky tempura paint pucks. Thinking about getting a rich tea biscuit and going to chess club, wondering what school will be like for my daughter.
