I really love this subtle detail about Yukimura; he buys the same notebook and still uses a pencil to write his Mariko-logs just as he did as a child. He has tendencies to be meticulous and obsesses over certain things and has trouble growing out of them and letting things go. It explain why it was easy for him to become obsessed with stalking Mariko and can't let her go. It's in his nature. The second she caught his eyes, she was doomed. I'm scared for Mariko because someone like him simply cannot let his long-time obsession end at will.

A24 has started claiming copyright on the Backrooms wallpaper textures that predates the movie. This is literal hell. And it's more worrying with the talks of SCP Foundation being made into a movie; the fact that stories that are a collective creation of people on the internet will fall onto the hands of greedy corpos that won't allow the same people to have fun with what they created is an infuriating future for all internet-based creative stories

my favourite thing about project hail mary is that earth is unrecognizable by the time the beetle probes arrived. eva stratt is on a journey in a frozen foreign land trying to recreate home again while grace finished his journey and found home in an artificial earth in a faraway planet. it's so poetic.

there's an instagram reel that really pissed me off of this white foreigner trying filipino foods; he tries Laing (taro leaves in coconut milk) and he compared it to puke just because it's green. it's so infuriating bc they'll describe guacamole or pesto the same way even tho they have the same green appearance but food from southeast asia will always be disgusting looking to these fuckers

finally sat down for project hail mary and i cant stop crying over how beautiful bond and connection is in any form it takes

nikki breaks my heart so bad because in the brief moments we see her before the wish kicks in, she's so cool and funny, clearly kindhearted, very driven about her future (telling bear about how she was going to quit her job to focus on her writing), and also very sure of herself as a person. ive seen people describe this movie as "mean-spirited" and I think thats so apt because it was a 2 hour long tragedy of the torture of this innocent girl, taking away everything she's ever had, including her own sense of self, putting her through unimaginable horrors, and leaving her with nothing except the three dead bodies of her friends, with the one who she trusted most being the one who did this to her. nothing for her to look for hope in, because she has nothing before her except a lifetime in prison or in an institution. it would be one thing if the movie ended on a note like weapons, where everything was over and there would hopefully be recovery somewhere down the line, but here, not only was the evil not committed by a random stranger but her closest friend, but she doesn't get any chance at recovery either. so goddamn tragic. on that note, if anyone can come up with some sort of fix-it for nikki please link it to me because I will be crying about this girl forever.

Bear is written so well as a narcissist and self-centered character that hides behind an external persona of a nice guy. He cries after his cat died but doesn't bother to bury it properly. He blames the cat for getting into the pill cabinet and doesn't acknowledge his negligence. Nikki begs him to end her suffering but he makes it about himself and his feelings. He blames the shop owners. He gets mad at Ian for not fixing his mess. There's no accountability. Just as he leaves the house after his cat died for Nikki, he quickly jumped ship to Sarah to seek the affection he wanted. When he finally has enough, he swallows the pills but backs out last minute. He would rather hurt the ones he loves with his eyes closed than hurt his ego. To him, nobody else matters and nothing is more important than his emotions. Love is just a way to feed his loneliness and ego.

the show is enjoyable at face value but i feel like kdrama plots with school bullying (a very real extreme problem in south korea) that showcase an attempt to make a change and fight against school violence often goes for the fantasy of "beating your bully" and taking revenge successfully but it just stops there. a fantasy. the viewers will feel satisfaction through that drama and nothing much is really done about the real world. i think the public would move if a drama has a plot where the bully gets away with it and lives their life forgetting the violence they caused while the victim suffers, because that's the reality of that premise. there's no satisfaction, no revenge, all cases where a victim exposes their bully in korea gets sweep under the rug and nothing is done about it. i know this isn't a documentary but that's just my 2 cents about why koreans are tired of bully dramas and find this specific show controversial among other things.

saiki x teruhashi is legit one of the best implied couples in animanga bc what do you mean the mc is the most powerful person in the universe and whenever he does something the others go "wow god must've done that!" and then here comes a character who's literally loved by god

'implied' in a way they don't officially get together but you just know teruhashi will always get what she wants and saiki will always give in to her every whim
