It’s about time i did one of these pinned post thingies
Welcome to Aquoreus! This is a heavily headcanon based RP blog for Lisia from the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (ORAS) Pokemon games.
- as written by Momo.
This blog is selective and mutuals only (for my sanity), and prefers plotted threads (even if they’re just loosely plotted).
Important note: The original R/S/E games and ORAS happened about 10-12 years ago in my timeline, therefore Lisia has naturally aged (just like Red and Blue/Green!) and is in her early/mid twenties in the main verse!
And because I adore three (3) fabulous Contest guys, there may occasionally be guest muses here: Chaz, Ruby, Wallace.
Please check out the pages below! I have also put together a post here that summarizes the million important headcanons I have for this gal.

GASPPPPPPPPPP. That's right, Gold made sure to particular add some extra flare to this said gasp within this moment. Initially looking surprised, it burns off to a purely amused look while tossing them a thumbs up.
"S'been a hot minute! Still knowing how to make a helluva show wherever ya go?"
A gasp and surprised look of her own is apparent as she turns and spots a familiar face. Grin jumping to her lips and with eyes alight, she gives two thumbs up in response, accompanied by a wink.
"Of course! I wouldn't know how to do anything else~"
She lowers her hands to rest on her hips, smile still in play. "And what about you?"
“She reminded me of the sea; the way she came dancing towards you, wild and beautiful, and just when she was almost close enough to touch she’d rush away again.”
i think it can be really important to remind ourselves with this hobby is that it’s incredibly normal to go through phases and fluctuating levels of creativity. even professional writers have to take breaks. sometimes i think there’s a pressure in rpc to be active every day or see hiatuses as something negative when they’re just normal. it’s a creative hobby! it’s natural to want to do other things. if you force yourself to do the same creativity all the time even when you aren’t enjoying it you’ll grow to resent it until you stop altogether. i burnt myself out on violin as a teenager because of this mentality and haven’t touched the instrument since. please remember creativity is not something you can force—does it require discipline? yes, pretty much any skill does. but if you find yourself called to other creative pursuits allow yourself to follow it. give yourself the space to be called back here again when it’s time.
Lisia does have the slightly longer than average canines that comes from her connection to Dragon types. She can get a bit self conscious about it if they’re pointed out by someone but generally its not something she thinks about.
Due to its isolated location, it’s only in the past few hundred years that Sootopolis has truly been open to the rest of the region and larger world.
Sootopolitans pride themselves on their culture and are happy to share it, even while doing their best to preserve it and trying to avoid too much outside influence. Aside from the connection to Water and Dragon Types, Sootopolis is known for its love of art, theatre, music, history, and food.
The people are also known for being rather philosophical and generous, and for talking a lot. They love to tell stories and have discussions/healthy debates, but they prefer to avoid any outright confrontation, and can be longwinded in attempts to be tactful or to get around to the topic they actually wish to discuss. They can be quite theatrical when speaking, often coming across as very expressive; however, when around strangers or anyone they don’t know very well, they tend to be a lot more reserved.
While they may be reserved with their expressions and speech at first, they’re not so withdrawn when it comes to personal space, and it’s not uncommon for them to stand close to others (especially when waiting in line). They’re generally quite tactile and are very physically affectionate with those they’re close with.
Hospitality and being a good host is incredibly important to them, and it’s equally important to them to be good guests themselves as well, so they always take care to compliment their host and follow the customs/traditions of being a guest. Part of their hospitality is their generous nature – they give any guest/visitor the best selections of any food/drink and serve them first at meals. Meals are a big deal to Sootopolitans, they’re very social and community driven people, so it’s rare to see one person dining alone (this also means a local Sootopolitan seeing a tourist eating alone is likely to invite them to join them).
Family is an important aspect of Sootopolitan life, and families tend to stay living close together, as neighbours, if not in one large house together. They share meals together as an immediate unit during the week and with extended family during the weekend. The family support each other in every way and take pride in the collective, so an insult to one member is an insult to the whole family.
The elder members of the family tend to be put above the others in the hierarchy, respected for their wisdom and leadership. Grandparents are often responsible for raising the younger members of the family while the parents work. It’s common in Sootopolis for godparents to be chosen for children as well, and they are usually chosen from within the family or close friends. A godparent is expected to help the child’s spiritual development in particular and provide support with all things, sometimes acting as a mediator if there is ever a disagreement between parent and child.
Sootopolitans place importance on their beliefs, and they can be quite superstitious. They have many, many stories about their history and myths about the pokemon they have come to hold in such high respect. One of their core beliefs relates to their deep sense of honour and the drive to do the right thing – they have a lot of pride and dignity and feel great social responsibility, driving them to help others even if it puts themselves at a disadvantage. Tied to this, they always keep promises to the best of their abilities and are typically comfortable giving verbal agreements because of this. They value those who help others, and tend to lose respect for a person who lies, shows selfishness, or too much self-interest.
They are loyal people and depend on each other, always ready to help. If someone ever has a problem, they always know someone (who knows someone, who knows someone) that will come help in an instant. Personal relationships are incredibly important and play a huge factor in a Sootopolitan’s life. The importance of social interaction and connection is inherent in everyday life in Sootopolis and can be seen in almost every aspect of the day.
To outsiders, they may appear to be too social, never working, always chatting, and unstructured, however; they always get what they need done. Public outdoor areas are common all over Sootopolis, as they love to socialise and catch up, and it builds a sense of community and belonging -- and it’s typical to see small groups gathering or walking in the late afternoon/evening.
When it comes to their art, music, and even architecture, their connection to Water and Dragon types are apparent. They celebrate their revered types in many ways and would always be happy to talk about them if ever asked.
Overall, Sootopolitans (especially the younger generations) are welcoming and friendly – particularly when respect to their city and culture is shown. While they are welcoming, it can sometimes be a different story if you’re hoping to join a Sootopolitan family through marriage, as they can be rather strict over worries about lessening their heritage. However, once you’re part of a Sootopolitan family and are accepted, you’re truly part of something much larger than expected and will come to know an incredible amount of support from them (hopefully).
I feel like I’ve talked a lot about Sootopolis and Water types but not enough on the Dragon side of things, so here’s a brief thing!
As mentioned, when the Draconids came to Sootopolis, they brought their respect of Dragons with them. They taught the Sootopolitans about Rayquaza and other impressive dragons. They told stories and shared their history, also bringing along some of their revered dragons to the island. The bond between the two peoples deepened and some bloodlines merged. The ‘main’ group of Draconids remained at Meteor Falls and continues to stay in contact with their connections in Sootopolis even now.
Sootopolitans from bloodlines that trace back to the Draconids may have a particular affinity and connection to Dragon types. Those with a particularly strong affinity for dragon types may have unusually long canines, and golden or red hues to their eyes.
And, like how there are festivals celebrating Water types, there are festivals and displays for Dragon types as well. There are many draconic influences and motifs in the design and detailing of the buildings in Sootopolis, and many pieces of art and literature specific to dragons are found in the city as well.
Sootopolitans have high respect for Dragon pokemon and several notable Dragon trainers have visited Sootopoolis from other ‘Dragon clans’ because of this.
Sootopolis, thousands of years ago, was a large and lush island. It had formed when a powerful earthquake shifted the land and an underwater volcano erupted, raising, and creating the island. Over time, people gathered on the island and began to develop their own community, bonding over their appreciation for the Water type pokemon that had helped them make the journey.
The legendary pokemon, Kyogre, dwelled within a nearby cave and could feel the respect between the people, pokemon, and nature. Kyogre is said to have blessed those people with the gift of a deeper connection to the element of water (and with the pokemon of that type), before beginning its slumber.
A meteor struck the island some time after, devastating the island and awakening Kyogre. The legendary pokemon, Groudon, also awakened due to the impact, and the two became enraged due to the energy emitted. They began to fight and cause destruction in their wake.
The Draconids of Meteor Falls, who tracked such celestial events, came to the aid of the Sootopolitans and worked with them to summon Rayquaza. The plan was successful and Rayquaza quelled the other two legendaries, who both retreated. Kyogre first brought the rain to Sootopolis and filled the crater, before entering the Cave of Origin to once again slumber.
Some Draconids stayed on the island, bringing their respect and knowledge of Dragon types with them. Sootopolitans and Draconids became entwined over time and together built the Sky Pillar. They developed a culture of respect for nature and pokemon, particularly Water and Dragon types.
Specific pokemon of those types became significant to the people of Sootopolis, and they would form lasting bonds with them which would influence them over the generations, though some aspects and truth of the pokemon and the bonds would become myths during that time as well. Certain families dedicated themselves to each of those pokemon and would develop deeper bonds and abilities through the connection.
Sootopolis culture developed and grew over the centuries, but the people tended not to venture to the mainland of Hoenn and rarely had visitors themselves until a few centuries ago, when they decided to open up trade. Sootopolis has grown since then, and although some of the abilities passed down through the family lines have diminished due to the introduction of outsiders, it remains a place rich in its own history and known for its reverence for Water and Dragon types.
Do you have a boyfriend, Lisia? Do you have someone special? Do you like anyone?
The remnants of the conversation earlier swirled around in her mind like a whirlpool, even as she let herself into her hotel room now.
Of course, it wasn’t uncommon for such questions to come up during interviews, and she’d had her fair share of practice in giving appropriate answers over the years (usually delivered to deflect rather playfully or with a coy smile).
Too tired for the moment to do much, aside from remove her shoes and release her pokemon into the room, Lisia yawned as she headed over to the large bed. Without any of the grace she usually wielded, she flopped down on the plush covers and gave a loud sigh. A soft chirp and hint of rustling indicated her Altaria had hopped on top of the bed as well, and had mimicked her position.
Lisia turned her head to look at Ali, a smile coming to her lips in an instant. Her oldest and closest friend.
“I can’t tell anyone, not in interviews at least, but I can tell you, right, Ali?”
Because truthfully, there was someone who had come to mind when she’d been asked those questions. Someone who had become incredibly special to her, always lingering in her thoughts and causing a warmth in her chest. And while she hardly dared to let herself even wonder what he might think of her in return, and she willed herself not to get herself in too deep (but it was far too late for that), she couldn’t help wanting to talk about him.
“I mean, you already know who it is…” she trailed off, but all it took was an encouraging trill from her partner for her words to flow on like a river, “He’s so kind, right? You can see the bond he has with his team and his friends. They’re totally in sync…I can really admire that. And with his pokemon, he doesn’t even need to speak really – not that he says much in general anyway, but it’s amazing what he can do and how his team respond to him.”
She paused, a small sigh slipping out as a soft smile formed. “He’s quiet, totally unlike me, so maybe I drive him a bit crazy, but he never seems to mind, actually – he just smiles a bit and sometimes asks me questions. He wants me to talk. He actually cares about what I’m saying, and he remembers things too! But, oh, Ali…he has such a nice smile.”
Was that her heart skipping at the mere thought of it? Yes. And was that her face growing warm at memory of slight smirks aimed her way? Also yes.
Her hands came up to cover her face, muffling the groan that surfaced.
“It’s not fair, Ali, he can be so…so smooth. You wouldn’t expect it, right? He doesn’t really seem the type, but he’s just full of surprises I guess.” It was certainly surprising to her that he could quite easily make her blush and flustered like a starstruck fan.
“Oh!” she said suddenly, a thought hitting her mind like a wave. She sat up and reached for her bag in a swift movement, “I have to show you this, Ali!”
Carefully, she pulled the origami figure out of her bag and held it in her palm for him to see. The paper crafted Altaria had survived the trip rather impressively, she thought. Admiring it with a smile, she explained, “He taught me how to make one! He is really good at this sort of thing, and he was so patient with me.”
In idle embarrassment, she rubbed the side of her face with a finger of her free hand as she added, “I was not very good at it…”
Her eyes turned back to her bag as she sought the other figure and withdrew it from the confines. The second creation (a Pikachu) was considerably more crinkled and lopsided than the first (and not because it had had a more difficult journey).
“This one…is actually from when he was learning. When I was getting kinda…upset about not being able to fold the paper just right, he showed me his old attempts. It helped me remember that we all start somewhere, and it helped take the pressure off. Pretty thoughtful, right?”
Ali hummed lightly in response, leaning forward to give a gentle nudge of his beak to the Altaria first and then to the Pikachu.
Lisia smiled and went on, “He’s really sweet, and observant too! He always notices the little things. He pays attention.”
The unique crimson of his eyes came to her mind, the way they could focus so completely on a task, or on a person (it was that thought which sent a sudden thrill through her). Direct eye contact seemed to be something he tended to avoid in many cases, however, she found herself always leaning to meet his gaze again and delighting in it when he would meet hers. She could, and often did, get lost in his eyes – admiring the colour, shape, and even fondly observing his eyelashes (oh boy, she was in deep already and had no idea).
It took a suspiciously laugh-like chirp from Ali to pull her back from the current of her thoughts. She set the origami figures down on the bed and then rubbed her face, her soft laugh stifled. “Sorry, Ali…I guess I get distracted by his eyes even when he’s not here!”
The admission brought a flush to her cheeks and made her shake her head at herself. How silly.
“I just…I really like him, Ali. He’s so calming to be around. Relaxing…and safe. He’s steady, like a rock in a storm.”
But of course, even rocks could have their stability eroded by the elements, and she knew there would be things he struggled with. The urge to know more, and to support him, was a burning light in her chest that had her sighing.
“I wonder what he’s doing now…”
Ali bent and nudged his beak into her bag, pulling out her phone by the Altaria charm secured to it. He dropped the device lightly onto her lap and watched her expectantly.
“Yeah, you’re right, maybe I should just check in with him, right?”
She unlocked her phone and pulled up her messages, finding the coded contact that was his.
Munchlax.
The name brought her a laugh as she explained to her pokemon, “He eats a lot…I was pretty surprised at first, but I guess he needs all that energy for his training and everything! He’s really strong and fit after all.”
Before she could talk herself out of it, she typed up a message and sent it.
When Lisia exchanges numbers with someone, she tends to save them under a Codename/Nickname. This is just in case her phone ends up in the wrong hands and someone tries to get dirt info from her message logs with people. She wants to protect their identities as much as she can.
