Thinking about meljay again and how great it is.

Mel's life is so messed up. She's sooo messed up. She's made to feel weak and inadequate for not being able to kill in cold blood at the age of 15. Her father is killed in front of her. She convinced her cousin, who she is friends with, to help Ambessa in her succession battle instead of running away somewhere safe, and then Ambessa kills her cousin! For no good reason other than "she might become an enemy in the future". And THEN Mel is exiled, to her understanding, for being upset about it and making friends with her cousin in the first place! She thinks her worth to her family is based on her ability extend its influence.

And then in Piltover she meets this man. This boy. Who's idealistic and full of potential. And she gets him wrapped around her finger. But then he looks at her with so much love and admiration. He shares his idealism with her. He makes her feel like she can give back to the the world. He treats her like she's full of love too. And she is! And she loves him so much!

And she lets that love guide her! She stops caring about what her mother thinks and decides to protect Jayce and his dreams instead, to try to keep him untouched as much as possible by the war and violence that she's had to live with her whole life. But of course she can't do that.

They are just so beautiful together and I love them.
