So long and thanks for all the fish!
I started this blog when I was super depressed and needed a place to play on the Internet that was separate from the rest of my online life. Thanks to the Monkey House RP group (you know who you are!) I was able to make a bunch of new fandom friends and put myself back together.
But I think it's time to bring this blog to an end. I'm not deleting it, so y'all can still message me, and I'm still hoping to see you all at an SPN con someday. But now that I've somehow convinced people to give me money for writing, I think I need to spend less time just reblogging about fandom and more time making my own stuff.
If you want to keep tabs on what I'm doing in the future, you can follow me on Tumblr at Stuffies (NSFW) or my slightly more work-friendly Twitter account, @MollyRen.
xoxo,
Molly

Look, I’ve not exactly been shy about my disaffection towards the modern grimdarkness of media. As a choice, though, I can at least understand and accept it. What bothers me more is the critical attitude that reads a film like Dark Knight Rises as nuanced or complex due to its moral ambiguity… rather than, you know, a film that contradicts itself on literally every conceivable thematic level, to the point where the film is a giant grimdark mess of growling and posturing, sound and fury saying nothing. The flip side of that, of course, is that a film like Pacific Rim is treated as somehow naive or insignificant because it dares, gasp!, to have not just a unified message, but a quite positive, affirmative message, spoken not in the language of Lifetime movies or this year’s crop of Oscar-bait, but in the language of Metal, the language of force and bombast and people in giant fucking robots punching Godzilla in the face.

I read this in my 11th grade english class and i still think about it sometimes.
This is my favorite fucking short story ever. It changed the way I look at human weakness.
This is one of my favourite things ever.
This is why I love writing
So, feel free to correct me but... the first time I read this was in Chicken Soup for the Soul. Either they used an example from that in your 11th grade English class, or all the stories in Chicken Soup weren't created by amateur writers as they claimed they were.

Complete Strangers Pose Together for Portraits by Photographer Richard Renaldi
In a world where the act of touch is reserved to those that people are comfortable with, Renaldi breaks through the stereotype and creates images that suggest that these complete strangers are close – like friends or family. In his words:
I am a New York city based photographer who began a life long relationship with photography back in high school in 1984. I few years ago I became interested in the dynamics of group portraiture and this led me to the project you see here. The premise of this work is simple: I meet two or more people on the street who are strangers to each other, and to me. I ask them if they will pose for a photograph together with the stipulation that they must touch each other in some manner. Frequently, I instruct or coach the subjects how to touch. Just as often, I let their tentative physical exploration play out before my camera with no interference. Though these situations involve orchestrated collaborations between subject and photographer, the emotions captured are both genuine and honest. Touching Strangers encourages viewers to think about how we relate physically to one another, and to entertain the possibility that there is unlimited potential for new relationships with almost everybody passing by.
All of these are extremely powerful. I look through them before I read the description and I thought they were close family members or lovers.
I thought they were close during the first two photos, then realized their facial expressions said otherwise by the time I got to the last one. Friends and family usually don't look this blank.
omg apparently artificial banana flavoring is based on the gros michel banana which was wiped out by a banana plague in the 50s and the banana we eat today is a totally different thing called the cavendish and thats why banana candy doesnt taste like bananas do you know how lied to i feel. like there was a fucking banana apocalypse and no one told me about it until now
…I knew about the bananapocalypse, but I never connected it with why banana candy tastes so much different than actual bananas.
And now I weep for what was lost.
So was there also a grape plague? Because that shit NEVER tastes like grapes.
But the feminine is not per se a monstrous sign; rather, it is constructed as such within a patriarchal discourse which reveals a great deal about male desires and fears but tells us nothing about feminine desire in relation to the horrific.

I think the saddest part of crafting is when crafters try to make stuff for guys and are like
"men want gray. gray and brown."
"men can only tolerate boring patterns like houndstooth and plaid"
"it’s not manly enough unless it’s all muted and desaturated"
what, do men need drab colors so predators don’t notice them sitting on nests in the underbrush?
That is EXACTLY why. My last boyfriend put on a pink shirt and a cat got him. ; ;
In the Chicago-set episode, Carver said we’ll be introduced to a show that would, if picked up by the network, “explore the clashing monster and human characters” living in the city. In fact, he said, “we’ll have main characters who are both human and monsters.” That will include, added Singer, “families of monsters and families of hunters.” “It’s much more of an ensemble than Supernatural,” Singer said. Starting with a fresh slate of characters, Singer explained, felt like a non-traditional approach to a spin-off that also left room for Sam and Dean to introduce viewers into the world. “Most spin-offs, you spin characters out and create a show about them. Jared and Jensen will be in the spin-off, but it’s an entirely different cast of characters,” Singer said. “And unlike Supernatural – which is a road show — this will take place in one place with a wider cast of characters.” “It’s going to be quite a departure — the same world but from a whole new perspective,” Carver added.

Here is me changing my mind and stating that this actually sounds… pretty cool? Monster families and therefore monster POVs? ENSEMBLE? A show where Sam and Dean are the minor characters? …yeah, this might actually work for me. We’ll see…
