Eight and nine years ago today.
I got his tattoo yesterday. Show you when it’s healed.
It’s been a long year without him and there are so many more to go. I hope I never forget the best times.
Tell your pet I said hi and give them some love.
It would have been his ninth birthday yesterday.
I spent the day trying to stay as busy as possible lest I remembered what day it was and just be paralyzed with grief.
This was taken on his 8th birthday.
One hundred days gone. In Thai tradition, we donated to Chicago Canine Rescue’s Dog Park in the Sky. When they share Archer’s entry I’ll post it here.
It’s been harder lately, as the cooler temperatures come in. Archer was definitely a cold weather dog and I think I’m going to have a breakdown when the first real snowfall hits and he’s not there to roll around in it.
Hug your loved ones if you can.
I’m Thai. One of our traditions is to make merit at the 7, 50 and 100 days after a death.
I was so engulfed in my grief for the first two, but I want to make an effort and do something for the 100-day mark since we had to say goodbye to Archer.
That will be October 20, or 14 days from this post.
So we’ll be picking a local rescue and donate something in his memory.
I was late to the party, but The Good Place is one of my favorites, and is currently our 'Eh, nothing else really sounds good right now, let's just rewatch this or have it on in the background' pick.
Season 3 Episode 12 was on last night, and much like the first time Michael explains Jeremy Bearimy, "This *broke* me."
I have a tattoo planned for Archer. I'll show you when it's done, but the first choice of words was a line from Smashing Pumpkins' "For Martha," which I've always loved, and Billy Corgan wrote on the loss of his mother. "Someday I'll follow you/See you on the other side."
But dammit, now I'm seriously thinking of changing the line to "Jeremy Bearimy. And you and I can chill out in the dot of the i forever."
Someone sent us this last week. Between this and finding his grooming scissors in a drawer, I lost it.
How has it only been three weeks since he died. It feels like it’s been a year.
Archer was such a handsome dog. But absolutely a perfect pet: loyal to his humans, easy to bribe with food (except for nail trims), and just a little bit of sass/stubbornness.
This is what I imagine he’s doing on the Bifrost right now.
After Memorial Day when the hypoglycemia started, I made it a point to take as many photos and videos as possible (while also not taking the moments for granted).
I’m just going to upload whatever I can find, because Best Dog needs to be shared and celebrated and remembered.

May you frap through the snows of the heavens and watch over us when we sleep.
Cheezborger last week.
Archer went back to the ER last night for another seizure, and has had some low blood sugar alerts since we brought him home.
We think he’s stabilizing, but, honestly, the truth is we can’t buy more time. So we’re going to make another phone call.
Friend took some beautiful photos for us, and I’ll share them here.
We went down to central IL to visit places Archer grew up in, but our trip coincided with 10 inches of rain and vicious storms. So part of our visit was spent in the hotel room’s bathroom.
Will go again later and hopefully the weather cooperates better.
Started prednisone this week, and hopefully after some time it can help us decrease his dependency on the pricier diazoxide, which still lasts only about 10 days a bottle and costs USD 260 each.
Yesterday we got some very meaningful photos taken by a dear friend. They’re going to be wonderful and, one day, heartbreaking.
And today another friend sent gardenias. I had told a mutual friend, when we thought the worst was coming, that I wanted to follow a Thai tradition from home of celebrating him with flowers, specifically, jasmine. Gardenias are close enough. They’re beautiful, and huge, and even if we don’t need them for the very best reason right now, I’ll probably try and make him a crown anyway. And he’s going to haaaaate every second of it, lol. (No we’re not going to let him eat them, that would be bad.)
Tonight we’re driving to central Illinois, where we raised him, and visiting his old farmers market.
Corgdad makes a great pasta carbonara. After we clean out as much black pepper as possible, it is tradition to let Archer clean the plates. He also got to lick our ice cream bowls clean.
